Verse Of The Day : Righteousness exalts a nation: but sin is a reproach to any people. Proverbs 14:34 (UKJV).

THOUGHT OF THE DAY : Pleasing God is the pathway to His blessings; but evil opens the door to disasters.

LISTEN : The power of true righteousness is in the fear of God. Righteous living pleases God and attracts Him into our lives. Jesus Christ died that we might live out the God kind of life. What is righteousness? It is the quality or state of being morally correct and justifiable. It means to have a right standing with God. My dear, righteousness is a trigger of God’s blessings. True honour and promotion come from God. Yes, God will promote and honour anyone who is determined to stay humble and loyal to Him. God does not honour or promote people out of sentiments, He promotes people on grounds of genuine relationship with Him. Pleasing God is the pathway to His blessings; but evil opens the door to disasters. The truth is, those who make sacrifices to please God will attract His unsolicited favour, honour and promotion like Joseph. Joseph refused to disobey God, instead, he sacrificed his own comfort and freedom when Potiphar’s promiscuous wife forcibly desired to sleep with him. (Genesis 39:9). Though his refusal to comply with her evil desire puts him in prison, but God’s grace brought him out and took him to the palace. He was remarkably honoured and promoted by Pharaoh because God elected to honour him. As a result, he was placed above Pharaoh’s princes and senators (Psalms 105:22). What an uncommon promotion! Beloved, do you desire to be divinely honoured and promoted? Then, obey and serve God faithfully. Remember, where obedience and service are genuinely rendered to God, life cannot end in misery. Be wise!

Having read today’s devotional, what is expected of you?
1. No matter what, do not succumb to the pressure to commit sin against God.
2. Do not be discouraged if you suffer for righteousness sake, rather defend your faith in God.
3. Determine to obey and remain loyal to God in every situation and you will be rewarded.
4. Rejoice when you suffer for righteousness sake because you will be lifted in the end.

Prayer : Precious Father, I thank You because You honour obedience. Help me to obey and remain faithful to You, in Jesus’ name, amen.

Reflection : God honours righteousness and rewards the righteous. Hence, upright living is not a waste of time.

Quote : “Where obedience, faithfulness and service are genuinely rendered to God, life cannot end in misery.”

Faith Confession : In Jesus’ name! I confess that God honours and promotes His faithful servants. Therefore, I will obey and serve Him faithfully, amen.

Biblical Fact : Did you know the name of Gideon’s father is Joash (Judges 6:11)

Today In History : June 16, 2015 TV personality and Real estate mogul Donald Trump launches his campaign for the Republican nomination for US President at Trump Towers

Verse Of The Day : Set your mind on the things that are above, not on the things that are on the earth. Colossians 3:2

LISTEN : “What are you thinking about my dear? For I have been watching you for over an hour now?” Says a man to his friend. The man smiled and said, “Just thinking about heaven. I really want to be there.” My dear, like this man in our illustration our thoughts should be directed towards God. The truth is, you are what you think, hence, you must guard your thoughts at all times. This is because, what you think about, to a great extent determines what you do or become. Thoughts trigger actions, and your actions will determine your success or failure in life. It will equally determine where you will spend eternity – heaven or hell. Good thoughts will produce good actions, and bad thoughts will produce negative actions. You cannot be different from what you think. (Proverbs 23:7a). That is why it is vital to direct your thoughts in line with the will of God. In our Bible verse , we are urged to think about things that are above and not about things that are on the earth. We should constantly desire the blessings that God has prepared for us in heaven. (1 Corinthians 2:9,10). We should bother ourselves with the things of heaven and abstain from the evil in the world. Besides, our minds should be consumed with thoughts of “a life with God after our earthly life.” We should always think about our eternal home that is free from crisis, heartbreak, sicknesses and diseases, death and sorrow, etc. Friend, focus your mind on eternity, for our journey on earth will soon be over. Remember, if you do not make heaven you have spent your life on earth in vain. Be wise!

Prayer : Heavenly Father! You are good. Help me to love You with all my heart and prepare for eternity. In Jesus’ name, amen!
