Verse of The Day: An ungodly man digs up evil. And it is on his lips like a burning fire. Proverbs 16:27

Thought of The Day: Evil people hunt for scandals; the upright hunts for love.

LISTEN: Friend, stop hunting for scandals. Everyone in the earth has something people should talk about; a dark side that they keep away from light. Sadly, worthless people make themselves available to spread gossip. They scandalize others and make themselves look like saints to the public even when they’re the worst of human. Beloved, why do you hunt for scandals? Why do you delight in pulling down others for you to rise? Do you know that, a hunt for scandals is a hunt for destruction of people’s image and reputation? Digging up people’s errors and shortcomings with intent to destroy their reputation and wreck their life is satanic and ungodly. Evil people hunt for scandals; the upright hunts for love. If you have access to people’s secrets, why use it against them to your selfish and mischievous ends? What is a scandal? It’s a malicious and disgraceful gossip about the private lives of other people. The Bible discourages us from getting involved in malicious gossip. God warns us against it. As a matter of fact, it’s ungodly to peddle gossip against others. You make yourself ungodly and worthless when you patronize gossip and tear people apart with your mouth. Our verse of the day says,

An ungodly man digs up evil. And it is on his lips like a burning fire.”

Proverbs 16:27

Let’s read this Bible verse above from two other translations…

“A worthless man digs up evil, and his speech is like a scorching fire.” Proverbs 16:27 (BSB).

“Evil people look for ways to harm others; even their words burn with evil.” Proverbs 16:27 (GNT).

Scandal (gossip) is harmful to the reputation of others. Most people can’t survive it. So, stop it! The Bible calls the person who spread malicious gossip an ungodly person; a worthless person, and an evil person. This means that, at some point you’ll reap the evil you sowed in others. Henceforth, don’t hunt for scandals, instead, let’s spread love. Be wise!

What Should We Do With This Message? 1. Don’t hurt people with their secrets you have access to. 2. Fear God and love others as you love yourself. 3. Stop hunting for scandals and begin to hunt for love, peace and unity. 4. Never forget that what you do to someone else will come to you someday.

Prayer: Dear LORD! I thank You for the word today. I realized that I shouldn’t dig up other people’s evil. Help me never to scandalized others. In Jesus’ name, amen!

A Word of Blessing: It’s well with you. Today I speak on your life, spirit of reproach and mischief will not grip you. You’re more than a conqueror. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Reflection: You make yourself ungodly and worthless when you patronize gossip and tear people apart with your mouth.

Quote: Digging up people’s errors and shortcomings with intent to destroy their reputation and wreck their life is satanic and ungodly.
