Verse Of The Day : That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made comfortable unto his death. Philippians 3:10
Thought of The Day : Genuine relationship with God is to know Him and His power; to have faith in His promises and to share in the sufferings of Christ our Saviour.
LISTEN : God is the purpose of our existence, and should be our ultimate desire in life. Beloved, what ultimate purpose do you want to fulfill in life? Does it have eternal value? Sadly, many makes fleeting pleasure their utmost desire in life. My dear, what is your utmost desire? What is your topmost priority in life? What is it that you can pursue at the expense of others? Priority in life differs. To some, their priorities are to have good cars, mansions, children, good health, good academic qualifications, wealth and to live long and enjoy their own labour; to others, their priorities are to have political power, become great in all areas of life; etc. This is a misplacement of priority. The Bible says,
“For what shall it profit a man,
if he shall gain the whole world,
and lose his own soul?”
Beloved, the very first thing you must do is to seek God. Hunger for Him should be your highest goal in life. The topmost priority of man should be to know God. The things mentioned above are good if God is the one at the top of the list. God desires that you prosper, but He should be the reason for your prosperity. He wants you to seek Him and value Him above all else. He wants all your desires to come second to His. The Bible says,
“But seek all of you first the kingdom of God,
and his righteousness; and all these
things shall be added unto you.”
Making God your second choice in life is a decision to exit this world at the end of life a miserable fellow. You will get it wrong if you abandon God to chase after the ‘good things’ of life; and you would gained nothing if you trade God for wealth. My dear, determine to pursue after God. The truth is that, you have lost nothing if you “lose all” to gain God. The Bible says,
“For whosoever will save his life shall lose it:
and whosoever will lose his life
for my sake shall find it.”
Apostle Paul understands this and therefore yearn for more of Christ. To yearn is to have an intense feeling of longing for something. Paul yearns to be more and more like Him, and he said,
“That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death.”
Beloved, Paul’s yearning should be our own confession. So, let us strive to know Christ, have faith in God and share in the sufferings of Christ. Be wise!
