Verse Of The Day: Above all, keep your love for one another fervent, because love covers a multitude of sins. 1 Peter 4:8
Thought of The Day : Love is the cure for bitterness just as hate is the cause of unforgiveness.
LISTEN: Love cures bitterness. It takes care of offences and reconcile warring parties; it’s the solution to selfishness, bitterness, impatience, envy, arrogance and the like. Bible summarised love thus:
“Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.”
1 Corinthians 13:4-5
What this simply means is that, love cares about welfare of others. Therefore, forgiveness is possible with love. People struggle to forgive others because love is absent in their hearts. A heart that is bankrupt of love will be bankrupt of forgiveness. But no matter the offence, forgiveness is always available where love reigns. Beloved, love is the cure for all manner of evil and inhumane treatment in the world. Love is the balm that soothes the hurting and offended (Luke 17:3-4); it is the chord that binds us together even when those we love break our hearts. My dear, with love, no matter how offended or hurt you might be, you can still forgive others for christ’s sake, knowing that God forgave us through Jesus Christ His only begotten Son (Matthew 6:14-15). My dear, are you hurt by a friend, a colleague, your parents, your spouse, your relatives, etc., and therefore have sworn not to forgive? Have you been mistreated or rejected by others? And therefore, you have decided to avenge yourself? Never mind! Just allow love to rule in your heart, and God will surely vindicate you in due course. When someone hurts you, rather than respond with same, learn to listen to the healing voice of love and you will be moved to forgive. Be wise!
What Should We Do With This Message?
1. Never allow the desire for vengeance destroy the power of love in you.
2. Always resist the spirit of bitterness and learn to love with the whole of your heart.
3. When you are hurt, do not hurt others in return, rather allow love to reign in your life.
4. When you are offended do not keep grudges, instead, tell it to your offender and let go of it.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, I thank you for your word today. Help me to live in love, forgiveness and tolerance towards others, in Jesus’ name, amen.
A Word Of Blessing : Today, I speak on your life. May God remove every spirit of vengeance, bitterness, hatred and wrath in you and cause love to reign. In Jesus’ name, amen.
Reflection: When we forgive we just demonstrated love, and when we love we do not hesitate to forgive.
