Verse Of The Day : So Jesus told those Jews who had believed in him, “If you continue in my word, you are really my disciples.”John 8:31
Thought of The Day : A true disciple of Christ Jesus is one who lives by God’s word.
LISTEN : You’re not a disciple of Christ Jesus until you are prepared to live by His word; and those who live by His word will enjoy His life. A journey with Christ a journey to life eternal. He’s the way, truth and life. Therefore, if you wouldn’t come to God through Him, you’ll never go in. He’s the word of God, therefore, to see God you must abide in Him. Beloved, we’re not disciples of Jesus Christ by mere declaration of such, but by continuing in His word (Hebrews 3:14). Not to do His word is to deny the faith. My dear, not every disciple is a true disciple of Jesus Christ. Anyone can verbally claim to be a disciple of Jesus Christ, but not everyone is truly serving His purpose. The Bible says,
“Not every one that says unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that does the will of my Father which is in heaven.“
Anyone can sing His praise, but not everyone can stick with Him when the going gets tough. Anyone can hear His words, but not everyone can keep His word. A disciple is one who accepts and assists in spreading the doctrines of another: one who follows the way of another. True disciples of Jesus Christ are known for their consistency in following Him and obeying His words. When God’s word is rejected or taken lightly, our claim to a relationship with Him is not genuine. No one is a true disciple of Christ who doesn’t continue in His word and exercise faith in Him. The Bible says,
“For we are made partakers of Christ, if we hold the beginning of our confidence steadfast unto the end.”
Beloved, there’s no ‘part- time followership’ in the Lord’s service. Total commitment is the standard for a relationship with God. It’s either you are with Him or with the devil; or for Him, or for the devil. What makes the difference between a committed and uncommitted follower of Jesus Christ is what he or she does with the word of God. God’s word is the standard and principle upon which true disciples of Christ base their conducts. They confess both their sins and their faith in Christ (Romans 10:10 ; John 1:9). My dear, are you truly obeying God’s word? Remember, God loves those who love and honour His words. Be wise!
What Should We Do With This Message?
1. Don’t take the word of God for granted, instead, be committed to it.
2. Be sure that you’re truly following and obeying the word of God.
3. Be committed and consistent in your relationship with God.
4. No matter the circumstance, don’t quit your commitment to God.
Prayer : Dear Lord, you’re true, loving and good. Therefore, help me to be committed and dedicated to you always, in Jesus’ name, amen.
A Word Of Blessing : Today I speak on your life, may the grace to follow Jesus Christ faithfully be released to you henceforth, in Jesus’ name, amen.
Reflection : A true disciple of Jesus Christ goes where He leads.
Quote : “Jesus Christ is the Master and mediator of His people. Hence, he who refuses to go where He leads is none of His.”
