Verse Of The Day : Then Samuel said to the people, “Don’t be afraid. You have indeed sinned. However, don’t turn aside from the LORD. Serve the LORD with all your heart. 1 Samuel 12:20.

Thought of The Day : God waits patiently to save sinners; but He cannot wait forever.

LISTEN : Sin is designed to sink sinners; but grace comes to crush sin and save the penitent. Beloved, God forgives the penitent sinner. He never bears anger forever where there is repentance. My dear, have you done something that you wonder if God would ever forgive you? No doubt, men may refuse to forgive you but God will willingly forgive when you return to Him in obedience. The Bible says,

Repent all of you therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord.
Acts 3:19 (UKJV).

God is too righteous to be angry forever towards the penitent. Couple of months ago I told a story about a man known for his unrelenting criminal activities, who approached a certain nobleman of his community and asked him thus, “Sir, will God ever forgive me for all the evil I’ve done against humanity?” The nobleman man replied, “I don’t know, because your sins are numerous.” With much frustration he left the nobleman and went to the church. When he saw the Pastor of the church who equally knows him for his notoriety, he asked him, “Sir, will God ever forgive me for all the evil I’ve done against humanity?” The Pastor smiled and replied, “My dear, God has been waiting for you to return. He will surely forgive you (Psalms 86:5 ; Isaiah 55:7). Only if you won’t go back to your evil ways.” Immediately he screamed, “Pastor, I’m happy! I won’t go back to my vomit.”

Beloved, God is merciful to those who are deeply contrite in heart! He will forgive when you return to Him with all your heart. When the Israelites sinned against God by asking for a King over them. Samuel was displeased, and God was angry too. Yet, Samuel encourage them to stick with God and not backslide because of their sin (1 Samuel 12:12-25). No doubt, sin makes people to lose confidence and feel so unworthy to come to God. But the right time to come to God is when you feel unworthy of His mercy. He will show you mercy when you realise that, you’re not worthy of it. So, come to Him today and you will not sink in your sin. Be wise!

What Should You Do With This Message?

1. Boldly come to Jesus Christ as you are, and He will forgive you.
2. Overcome your shame and pride and come back to God for mercy.
3. Don’t allow the guilt of sin to steal your joy, instead, confess your sins to God.
4. Don’t run away from God because you sinned, instead, come to Him and be free.

Prayer : Dear LORD, I thank You for Your word today. You are good and merciful. I confess my sins today and ask for mercy, in Jesus’ name, amen.

A Word Of Blessing : It is well with you. May you receive forgiveness for your sin and restoration of your life. In Jesus’ name, amen!

Reflection : God is too righteous to be angry forever towards the penitent. He is too holy to be made unholy. And too true to be untrue.

Quote : “Where genuine repentance is available, sincere forgiveness and mercy would be released.”
