Verse Of The Day : Hatred stirs up strife: but love covers multitude of sin. Proverbs 10:12

Thought of The Day : If it is too difficult to forgive, it will be too difficult to receive forgiveness from God and man.

LISTEN : If you’re not genuinely loving others you’re hating them. True love is God’s nature (1John 4:8). Love is the solution to our relationships with God and others. Our society will not know peace if there is no love in our hearts. The Bible book of 1 Corinthians 13 verse 4 – 7, gives a vivid description of love, and if applied would produce a decent personal life and societal peace and well-being. It says.

“Love is patient, love is kind; love does not envy;
love does not boast, is not arrogant; does not behave disgracefully,
does not seek its own, is not provoked to anger, thinks no evil;
does not rejoice over unrighteousness, but rejoices with the truth;
bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.”

Sadly, our world today is the opposite of love. The increasing rate of violence, kidnapping, terrorism, ritual killing, and all manner of evil is because love is missing in our society. We hate one another and destroy one another because there is no love for God and man. We are rather spreading hate than love. As a matter of fact, what we spread is what will go round. Bad news spreads so fast because virtually everyone gets involved in spreading it. In the same way, if we spread love, hate will gradually vanish. There will be no room for hate when love has taken the center stage in our lives. Why do we fight and kill one another? Isn’t it because of lack of love? Love covers multitude of sin. Our anchor Bible verse says,

“Hatred stirs up strife: but love covers multitude of sin.”

Proverbs 10:12

Similarly, in 1Peter 4:8 the Bible says, Above all keep your love for one another fervent, because love covers a multitude of sins.”

What does that mean? It means that, love is the cure for offenses. It is the solution to bitterness and anger. It is the cord that binds us together no matter our background and religious affiliations. Beloved, let’s embrace love and reject hate. Hate kills but love heals. Hate produces unforgiveness, love gives unconditional forgiveness. Where hate rules, people find it easy to fight, but difficult to forgive one another. My dear, forgive because you’ll need forgiveness at some point in your life. If you find it hard and unreasonable to forgive others, God will equally find it hard and unreasonable to forgive you too (Matthew 6:14,15). Please let’s forgive one another! Henceforth, make yourself a carrier of love and not of hate. Be wise!

What Should We Do With This Message?

2. Determine to grow in love for others and shun bitterness and hatred.
3. Learn to let go of offenses and stop holding on to the past.
