Verse Of The Day : The one who has an ear had better hear what the Spirit says to the churches. The one who conquers will in no way be harmed by the second death. Revelations 2:11
Thought of The Day : The voice of God is the voice of instruction, and the voice of instruction is the voice of life.
LISTEN : Obedience to God brings safety. We are secure when we obey Him. A man asked her stubborn son thus: “Son, have you lost your hearing ability? You have refused to heed my instructions. It’s obvious that, your ears are for fancy.” This is how lots of people respond to God. They pay deaf ears to the word of God. My dear, when God speaks, we should listen. Not to listen to God is to call for His wrath. The Bible says,
“But if you refuse and rebel, you will be devoured by the sword.
Know for certain that the LORD has spoken.“
When God chastises us, He wants to save us from being harmed. God deserves our obedience. It is His pleasure to receive our total loyalty and commitment. He would not watch us being destroyed without making efforts to correct and save us through discipline. Like our earthly parents, God disciplines us to make us better and not bitter. The Bible says,
“For the Lord disciplines the one
he loves and chastises every son he accepts.”
God commends, corrects and cautions His people where necessary. Jesus Christ concluded His messages (revelations) to John the Apostle for the seven churches of Asia minor, and by extension to churches of all ages, with this statement,
“He that has an ear, let him
hear what the Spirit says unto the churches.”
When we obey God He saves us from eternal death. My dear, God created the ears for hearing. And what the ear hears should lead to actions that should glorify God. Our ears should hear the voice of God, and the voice of God is the voice of correction, encouragement, warning, love, rebuke, direction and the like. But when we disobey Him, we have lost our real sense of hearing. Henceforth, let the fear of God put caution in your actions and you will not regret in the long run. Be wise!
What Should We Do With This Message?
1. Always heed God’s warning and save yourself from disasters.
2. Don’t close your ears to the instructions of God and He will not shut His ears to your cry.
3. Don’t resent or despise the chastisement of God, rather humbly submit to Him.
4. Study the Scriptures daily and exercise yourself in godliness.
Prayer : Heavenly Father! You are my God. I would heed your warnings and turn away from evil, in Jesus’ name, amen!
A Word Of Blessing : Today, I speak on your life, may the Lord enable you to heed His warnings and instructions, in Jesus’ name, amen!
Reflection : He or she who closes his ears to the instructions of God, would have God close His ears to his or her cry when disaster comes.
Quote : “When the Holy Spirit speaks to anyone, He leaves such person with two choices – life or death.”
