Author : Bishop Julius Okarike

Verse Of The Day : Walk in obedience to all that the Lord your God has commanded you, so that you may live and prosper and prolong your days in the land that you will possess. Deuteronomy 5:33 (NIV).

Thought of The Day : Obedience to God is the pathway to His blessings.

LISTEN : God Almighty deserves our obedience. Without obedience to God we cannot escape His wrath. Obedience to God is pathway to true prosperity. It is the doorway to His blessings. But when disobedience becomes a delight, destruction will become an inheritance. When God brought the children of Israel out of bondage in Egypt, He warned them against disobedience. The Bible says,

Beware that you forget not the LORD your God,
in not keeping his commandments,
and his judgments, and his statutes,
which I command you this day
.”

Deuteronomy 8 :11

God emphasised on obedience to His word. He warned them against disobeying His commandment. He told them the importance of obedience to their own success in life. As a matter of fact, He made them to understand that, not to obey Him is to call for His wrath. The Bible says,

But if all of you refuse and rebel,
all of you shall be devoured with the sword:
for the mouth of the LORD has spoken it.

Isaiah 1:20

Beloved, do you enjoy to disobey God? Don’t forget that, disobedience to the word of God is the easiest way to invite His wrath. He who neglects to obey God must prepare for His wrath; because the wrath of God travels in the direction of disobedience. The Bible says,

Let no man deceive you with vain words:
for because of these things comes the wrath
of God upon the children of disobedience.

Ephesians 5:6

Beloved, God desires that you prosper. However, you cannot experience this blessing until you are willing to joyfully obey God. When you walk in obedience to God, God will work out things for you. Obedience to God brings success and abundant life; but disobedience to Him brings failure and death. Our theme verse says,

“Walk in obedience to all that the Lord your God
has commanded you, so that you may live and
prosper and prolong your days in
the land that you will possess.”

Deuteronomy 5:33

Beloved, do you want to truly prosper and succeed? Then, obey God. Obey God and you will prosper, live and prolong your days; disobey Him and you will surely have yourself to blame. Be wise!

What Should We Do With This Message?
1. Walk in obedience to God and you will live and prolong your life.
2. Avoid evil and all manner of wickedness and you will escape the wrath of God.
3. Determine to honour, serve and worship God as long as you live.
4. Don’t allow anyone to deceive or cajole you to disobey God no matter what.

Prayer : Dear LORD, I thank You because You are the Almighty God. Help me to obey and serve You for the rest of my life, in Jesus’ name, amen!

A Word Of Blessing : It is well with you. May God open your eyes and mind to know who He is. And may you serve and worship Him without reservations, in Jesus’ name, amen!

Reflection : Just as obedience to God attracts His blessings, His wrath travels in the direction of disobedience.

Quote : “When disobedience to God becomes a light thing, destruction will become a sure thing. For not to obey God is to call for His wrath.”
