Verse Of The Day: My eyes stay open through the night watches, that I might meditate on your word. Psalms 119:148

Thought of The Day : God’s word can never change anyone who refuses to give time and attention to it.

LISTEN: Where your heart is, your attention would go. Your attention expresses the interest of your heart. In the same way, the time you spend studying and meditating in God’s word shows where your love lies. What you spend quality time doing shows where your interest lies. My dear, time is precious and should be spent wisely. What you spend your time on should both affect your life now and eternity. God’s word is the way to God. You must meditate in His word to discover His will. God’s will is the purpose of our existence. Hence, a God – fearing person won’t rest until he or she has discovered and begins to do what pleases God. Job said,

Neither have I gone back from the
commandment of his lips; I have esteemed the words
of his mouth more than my necessary food.
(Job 23:12).

Job esteemed God’s word more than food. He delighted to please God more than everything else. The truth is that, we can live like Job. However, it’s hard to do the will of God if you can’t spend time in His words. God’s word reveals His will. Therefore, until you understand His word you can’t follow His will. The Bible says,

This book of the law shall not depart out of your mouth;
but you shall meditate therein day and night,
that you may observe to do according to all that is written therein:
for then you shall make your way prosperous,
and then you shall have good success.
” (Joshua 1:8).

Beloved, how much time do you spend in God’s word? In our anchor Bible verse, David denied himself night sleep just to meditate in the word of God. He stayed awake all night not to attend to his domestic needs; worry over life’s circumstances; plot the downfall of his enemies, worry over wealth and prosperity of others, etc., but to meditate in the word of God. No wonder God called him,

“a man after my own heart” (Acts 13 22).

He spent quality time in God’s word just to find His will; He spent time in quiet thought for religious purposes; He engaged his mind for the purpose of reaching a heightened level of spiritual awareness. Like David, let’s determine to spend time in the word of God. Be wise!

What Should We Do With This Message?
1. Spend time to meditate in the word of God.
2. Never permit anything to keep you from meditating in the word of God.
3. Love the LORD with all your heart and all you have without reservations.
4. Determine to strengthen your relationship with God by studying His word.
