Verse Of The Day : Saul’s son Jonathan got up and went to David at Horesh, and he encouraged him to trust in God. 1 Samuel 23:16
Thought Of The Day : Insult never motivates anyone to succeed; encouragement does.
LISTEN : Words are powerful. They could kill and save life. They could break the heart and equally mends the heart. My dear, what you say to others could either harm or heal them. So, watch what you say to others! When last did you encourage someone to pursue his or her God-given purpose? I remembered sometime ago, when I visited an auto mechanic shop. The mechanic had finished working on a car with a manual transmission. But the car refused to kick-start. So, the mechanic ordered his apprentices to push start it. Suddenly, the car started. I learned a lesson from it. I learned that, a little push can make a difference. My dear, lots of people are already frustrated and tired of life. They want to end it all. Such people don’t need further heartbreak or frustration. What they need is encouragement. Like the car in our story today, they need a push. They need a word of hope and comfort. They need someone to tell them to be strong and courageous and fix their eyes on God. This was exactly what Jonathan did for his dear friend David when he was in trouble. Though, Jonathan was the supposed heir apparent to the throne of Israel, yet, he didn’t listen to his father Saul, or support him in his plans to kill David his perceived threat to the throne. Instead, he encouraged David to put his hope in God. My dear, people need words of encouragement from you. So, learn to encourage others. Those who are struggling needs the strength that comes from compassion and encouragement. We motivate people by encouraging them, not by breaking their hearts further. Let’s help others by encouraging them to overcome their challenges. They want you to make them more determined, hopeful and confident in pursuing the purpose of God for their lives. The Bible says, “And we urge you, brothers and sisters, admonish the undisciplined, comfort the discouraged, help the weak, be patient toward all.”(1 Thessalonians 5:14 NET). Henceforth, encourage others through your words to become what God wants them to be. Remember, you can encourage someone today and make him or her achieve his or her dreams. Be wise!
