Author : Bishop Julius Okarike
Verse Of The Day : Nevertheless God, that comforts those that are cast down, comforted us by the coming of Titus. 2 Corinthians 7:6
THOUGHT OF THE DAY : God who sees the pain of His people can bring comfort to their troubled soul.
LISTEN : Everyone wants peace and comfort, sadly, the world cannot truly offer them to us. The world is full of wickedness therefore, to expect absolute peace and comfort is to expect the impossible. Only God can give peace and comfort (John 16:33). That’s why Jesus Christ came. He came to save sinners and to raise a special people for himself who will be readily prepared for good works (Titus 2:14). And one of the things that they must do is to give hope to the lost through the gospel of Christ Jesus, and to comfort the brokenhearted. No doubt, the world is full of people with heavy hearts, who are in great need of comfort and encouragement. They want to be comforted, not tormented. What does it mean to be comforted? It means to cause someone to feel less worried, upset, frightened, etc. It also means to give strength and hope to others, ease their grief or trouble, and console them when they are in pain. God wants us to be a source of comfort and support to those that are cast down. God is a God of comfort ; therefore, His children should be a source of comfort to those whose hearts are broken or threatened. Apostle Paul and his colleagues were comforted by the visit of Titus to them, when they were troubled in their missionary journey to Macedonia. In the same way, we should calm tension in the lives of others by comforting them in times of troubles. Beloved, if what you do is cause pains and heartaches to others, you have wasted your time in the world living a regrettable life. So, like God, let’s give comfort and peace to others. Be wise!
WHAT SHOULD YOU DO WITH THIS MESSAGE?
1. Determine to be a source of comfort and support to others, and not of grief and torment.
2. Do not offer yourself as a tool to the devil, but as instrument of righteousness to God.
3. Learn to feel the pain of others and do not be insensitive to their plight.
4. Offer your unsolicited support to the heartbroken and afflicted where necessary.
Prayer : Heavenly Father, You are the God of comfort and peace. Therefore, help me to comfort those who are in pain and not to add to their pain, in Jesus’ name, amen.
Reflection : When the fear of God rules our hearts, we will comfort others and calm tensions and confusion in their minds, and not compound their woes.
Quote : “The world is full of wickedness therefore, to expect absolute peace and comfort is to expect the impossible.”
Faith Confession : Today, I confess that God created us to comfort one another. Therefore, I will serve as a source of comfort and support to others, amen.

TOPIC : WORK FOR UNITY IN YOUR HOME

Bible Verse : Behold how good and pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity… for there the LORD commanded the blessing, even life for evermore Psalms 133:1,3
LISTEN: Unity is a force that can withstand any oppositions. It attracts divine blessings. Beloved, does your home enjoy and encourage unity among family members? Do you know unity is the beauty of life? Yes, it is the language of love. Unity cannot survive where love is absent. Unity brings progress and development. It brings the blessings of God to the people. When a family decides to embrace unity, they have equally positioned themselves for the blessings of God. But any family divided against itself cannot stand. (Mark 3:25). Besides, a divided family will shut the door of progress and development (blessing) against itself. Unity goes with peace, where you cannot find unity you cannot find peace ; and where you cannot find peace you cannot find unity. Beloved, God’s blessings go to where there is peace and unity. God blesses a peaceful and united home, because He knows His blessings will be useful and appreciated. Without peace and unity, blessings received cannot be sustained. Friend, are you living in peace and unity in your home? Are you really getting on well with other members of your family? Unity is good and attracts God’s blessings. The Bible says, “How good and pleasant it is for brethren (brothers and sisters) to live together in unity: for there the LORD commanded the blessing, even life for evermore.” (Psalms 133:1,3) So, pursue unity and God’s blessings will come your way. Be wise!
Prayer : Dear Lord, I thank you for your word today. Help me to walk in unity with others, amen.
