Author : Bishop Julius Okarike

Verse Of The Day : Elisha said to her, “What can I do for you? Tell me, what do you have in the house?” She answered, “Your servant has nothing in the house except a small jar of olive oil.” He said, “Go and ask all your neighbors for empty containers. Get as many as you can. 2 Kings 4:2-3 (NET).

THOUGHT OF THE DAY : A little investment in line with the will of God can become an ocean of blessings over time.

LISTEN : Great things are products of small things. Yes, God blesses little resources that are wisely utilised to the glory of His name. When we claim to have nothing just because we have little, we should know that, God can turn our little into an ocean of resources when we walk by faith. Faith in God does not encourage laziness but industry and diligence. God doesn’t favour laziness, He favours diligent hard work. Yes, He honours sacrifice and self-discipline. The truth is, the wise don’t laze around and wait for God’s favour. They don’t wait and expect God to do in miracle what He has given man to do in principle. My dear, God won’t waste His resources. He knows those who are ready for His blessings. Sometimes, the favour you need from God is to do something and wait for His blessings to locate your labour. God will bless nothing if you do nothing (Deuteronomy 28:12). He wants you to get down to business and do something with your life no matter how small. Nothing is too small for God to bless. The widow in today’s Bible text was extremely poor and greatly indebted financially, and about to lose her sons to creditors as slaves. When she cried to God’s anointed servant, Elisha, he asked her, “What do you have in your house?” She replied, “Your servant has nothing in the house except a small jar of olive oil.” (2 Kings 4:2). And Elisha commanded her to use the little oil to attract the favour of God (2 Kings 4:3-7). She obeyed God’s servant and used her little oil to receive her miracle. In the same way, if we must receive favours we should be prepared for it. Beloved, position yourself for favour to attract favour. Remember, some favours won’t come to you unless you have the capacity to receive them. So, no matter how little your resources are, apply them to good use and wait for the blessing of God. Be wise!

1. Never laze around and wait for God’s blessings, instead, work and wait for Him to bless your labour.
2. Don’t encourage laziness. Instead, motivate others to be diligent in their endeavours.
3. Learn to prepare for favour by increasing your capacity before it finally comes to you.
4. Never look down on what you have, rather, employ it to a good use and wait for the blessings of God.

Prayer : Precious Father, I know that favour comes from you. Therefore, help me to do what I must do as I wait for your blessings, amen.

Reflection : God does not favour laziness, He favours diligent hard work; hence, He will bless nothing if you do nothing.

Quote : “Great things are products of small things. And God blesses little resources that are wisely utilised to the glory of His name.”

Faith Confession : In Jesus’ name, I confess that the favour of God is on me. Therefore, I will not be put to shame, amen.

Biblical Fact : Did you know Joseph of Arimathaea was also a follower of Jesus Christ? (John 19:38).

Today In History : August 1, 1834 Slavery is abolished throughout the British Empire.

Stunning Fact : Did you know the most common mental illnesses are anxiety and depression?

A Word Of Blessing: It is well with you. May divine favour and promotion locate you today and forever, in Jesus ‘ name, amen.

Bible Verse : A person is praised in accordance with his wisdom, but the one who has a twisted mind is despised. Proverbs 12:8

LISTEN : Wisdom is the wheel with which success runs. Wisdom brings honour and praise, but foolishness brings shame and pain. Yes, true wisdom is key to honour, favour and life. Wisdom is wonderful, and it’s the beauty of life. What is wisdom? Wisdom is simply a good sense or judgment : right application of knowledge. Wisdom is very key to life. Life without wisdom is empty of purpose and directions; and life without purpose lacks meaning. Wisdom brings honour, and lack of it brings disgrace. One’s level of wisdom will determine how far one can go in life. It will determine the kind of people that will be willing to associate with you. Wisdom brings success, and everyone wants to identify with success. No one wants to be part of failure. Yet, a lot of people are not doing enough to get wisdom. The Bible says, “Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all your getting get understanding.” (Proverbs 4:7). True wisdom comes from God, hence, to get it you must have God. Wisdom is wrapped in the word of God, therefore, to walk in God’s wisdom you must deep yourself in God’s word. The deeper you go into the words of God the wiser you become. (Psalms 119:100). So, pursue wisdom and honour will pursue you ; despise it and you will be despised. Be wise!

Prayer : Dear Lord, help me to walk in wisdom all the days of my life, amen.
