THE MISERY OF A WOUNDED SPIRIT

MORNING

Author : Bishop Julius Okarike

Verse Of The Day : The spirit of a man will sustain his infirmity; but a wounded spirit who can bear? Proverbs 18:14.

THOUGHT OF THE DAY : It is hard to survive or outlast trials unless the heart is determined to overcome by faith.

LISTEN : It is miserable to live all your life a depressed person. Depression puts you at the mercy of circumstances. It is a wound to the human spirit; and that is not God’s plan for anyone. No doubt, we suffer untold hardship and miseries sometimes in life. However, we can survive all by the strength of our spirits (faith in God), My dear, even if you are wounded in your body, do not be wounded in your spirit. That is, no matter what happens, do not come to the point where you conclude that, it is over with you. My dear, it is suicidal to be wounded in spirit. The Bible says, “The spirit of a man will sustain his infirmity; but a wounded spirit who can bear?” (Proverbs 18:14). God wants us to be strong and courageous in moments of troubles. He wants us to have hope and faith, and sustain the desire to live, and not die. In trouble times, we often hear people say things like, “I can’t make it.” “I am tired, I can’t go on anymore. I want to die, for there is nothing to live for.” The list goes on and on. Beloved, it is dangerous to think like that. You can hardly survive or outlast your problems unless you are determined to overcome. That is why it is important to stay positive even if you are down (Psalms 118:17; Job 19:25). He who is down, yet, stays positive and hopeful, will outlast his challenges and miseries. But he who finds it hard to believe for the best will certainly see the worst. So, be strong and courageous and refuse to sink with your problems no matter what. Be wise!

WHAT SHOULD YOU DO WITH THIS MESSAGE?
1. Stay positive and hopeful to outlast your challenges.
2. Be strong and courageous and refuse to sink with your troubles.
3. No matter how wounded you are, do not be wounded in your spirit.
4. Never doubt what God can do, rather believe He can see you through your troubles.

Prayer : Dear Lord, you are God of the oppressed. Deliver me from my troubles, in Jesus’ name, amen!

Reflection : He or she who finds it hard to believe for the best will certainly see the worst.

Quote : “He who is down, yet, stays positive and hopeful, will outlast his or her challenges and miseries.”

Faith Confession : Today, I confess that God delivers the oppressed from oppression. Therefore, He will deliver me, amen!

Biblical Fact : Did you know the wages of sin is death? (Romans 6:23).

Today In History : July 17, 2014 – Malaysia Airlines Flight 17, a Boeing 777, crashes near the border of Ukraine and Russia after being shot down. All 298 people on board are killed.

Stunning Fact : Did you know Scissors were most likely invented in ancient Egypt?

A Word Of Blessing : It is well with you. Today I speak on your life. Every oppression and demonic seed growing in your life dies today, in Jesus’ name, amen!

EVENING

TOPIC : FAITH WITHOUT WORK

Friday, July 17, 2020

Bible Verse : What good is it, my brothers, if a man says he has faith, but has no works? Can faith save him? Even so faith, if it has no works, is dead in itself. James 2:14,17

LISTEN : Faith is empty and ‘faithless’ without work. Yes, work is the action of faith. Hence, faith without work is dead. The power of faith is in taking necessary actions. My dear, every good step you take moves you to a new level. As much as we pray everyday for a change of level, we must also take the necessary actions to get there. We must make the needed sacrifice to trigger results. On a daily basis, learn to act and make sacrifice in prayer. Pray when you feel like, and when you don’t feel like it. It is when you act and pray when you don’t feel like it, that you trigger results. Don’t be lazy to pray, think and act, instead, rise and talk to God with expectation. David said, “LORD, in the morning you will hear me; in the morning I will present my case to you and then wait expectantly for an answer.” (Psalms 5:3). Beloved, learn to think and act to attain what God has designed you to be. Do not fold your hands and wait for ‘manna” to fall, rather, act in faith and cause God’s goodness to happen in your life. Be wise!

Prayer : Heavenly Father, I thank you because you are God. Help me to always act in faith as long as I live, in Jesus’ name, amen!
