Author : Bishop Julius Okarike

Verse Of The Day : My aim is to know him, to experience the power of his resurrection, to share in his sufferings, and to be like him in his death. Philippians 3:10 (NET)

THOUGHT OF THE DAY : A relationship with God is to know Him, His power, to have faith in His promises and share in the sufferings of Christ.

LISTEN : In life, people are driven by their desires and interests. A lot of people could do the unimaginable just to achieve their goals. Sadly, lots of people make fleeting pleasure their utmost desire in life. My dear, what is your utmost desire? What is your topmost priority in life? What is it that you can pursue at the expense of others? Priorities in life differ. To some, their priorities are to have good cars, mansions, children, good health, good academic qualifications, wealth and to live long and enjoy their own labour; to others, their priorities are to be famous, have political power, be great in all areas of life; etc. Beloved, all the things mentioned above are good if God is the one at the top of the list. God desires that you prosper as much as He desires to be the reason for your prosperity. He wants you to seek Him and value Him above all else. He wants all your desires to come second to Him. (Matthew 6:33). Making God your second choice in life is a choice to leave this world at the end of life a miserable fellow. You will get it wrong if you abandon God to chase after the good things of life; and you would certainly gained nothing if you trade God for wealth. My dear, determine to pursue after God. Yes, you have lost nothing if you “lose all” to gain God. (Matthew 16:25). Apostle Paul said, “My aim is to know him, to experience the power of his resurrection, to share in his sufferings, and to be like him in his death.” (Philippians 3:10). Paul’s confession should be our own confession – to know Christ, have faith in God and share in the sufferings of Christ. Be wise!

1. Make God the priority of your life and determine to live in His will.
2. Be courageous and take part in spreading the gospel of Christ no matter the persecution.
3. Be wise and do not abandon God to chase after ‘the good things of life.’
4. Always evaluate your desires and make sure you are not living outside God’s will.

Prayer : Almighty God, You are worthy to be praised. Help me to watch my desires, and to make You my priority in life, amen.

Reflection : The unquenchable desire to please God is the force that pushes anyone to know and fear Him.

Quote : “He who trades God for wealth has gained nothing but destruction; and he who trades everything for God has lost nothing.”

Faith Confession : Today, I confess that God is God and there is none besides Him. Therefore, I would make Him my priority in life, amen.

Biblical Fact : Did you know Jubal is the father and inventor of instrumental music in the Bible? (Genesis 4:20-21).

Today In History : July 8, 1099 Christian Crusaders march around Jerusalem as Muslims watch from within the city.

Stunning Fact : Did you know a baby fetus develops fingerprints at eighteen weeks?

A Word Of Blessing : It is well with you. Today I speak on your life. May God guide you and give you a heart of understanding and wisdom. in Jesus’ name, amen.

Bible Verse : The name of the LORD is a strong tower: the righteous runs into it, and is safe. Proverbs 18:10

LISTEN : God is our dependable refuge. He is our hiding place in times of troubles. No place is as safe as the secret place of the Most High. No matter how fortified any place could be, it is still vulnerable. God alone is a reliable refuge. Nothing can destroy what is hidden in Him. Beloved, have you hidden yourself in God? To hide yourself in God you must be in Christ Jesus. You must first surrender the control of your life to Him. The Bible says, “for you have died and your life is hidden with Christ in God.” (Colossians 3:3). When you give up the control of your life, God takes over and order your steps in the right direction. Beloved, trust the Lord! God is a strong tower, a refuge, and place of complete safety to all who trust in Him. (2Samuel 22:3). He is a strong fortress to His persecuted and afflicted followers. Therefore, whatever situation we find ourselves, we should run to Him in faith and be saved. Be wise!

Prayer : Dear Lord, You are my refuge. Help me to rely on You always, amen!
