Verse Of The Day: Serve the LORD with fear, and rejoice with trembling. Psalms 2:11
THOUGHT OF THE DAY : When fear for God and joy dominate our service to Him, His presence will rule our lives.
LISTEN: Faithfulness in service is key to acceptable service to God. Besides, those who serve God must do it gladly and with reverence. My dear, going to church alone does not make anyone a genuine child of God, but the fear of God does. Your fear for God guarantees intimacy with Him. God wants you to serve Him with fear and gladness. He wants you to serve Him with understanding of who He really is. Without understanding of who God really is you will serve Him wrongly and in vain. The Bible says, “The fear of God is the beginning of wisdom…” (Pro 9:10). Obviously, there is no wisdom in anyone who undermines and despises the fear of God. Beloved, God wants us to serve Him with reverence; that is, to show or have a lot of respect for Him. He wants us to offer ourselves as” a living sacrifice” to Him. He wants us to live for Him not just for ourselves. Truly, sacrifice is the key to a reasonable service to God. God is to be worshipped with awe and fear. To receive His approval, He must be placed first in our lives. Beloved, learn to accord God the honour that is due Him; that is the first and greatest lesson of every man. If we claim to honour God, then we should not be attracted to evil things of this life. If we have respect for Him, we will strive to be fair and honest with others. Friend, learn to serve God faithfully and excitedly. Serving God should make you happy, not sad. Henceforth, serve God with fear, for He deserves a reasonable service from you. Remember, when service to God is devoid of faithfulness, rejection is inevitable. Be wise!
Having read today’s devotional, what is expected of you?
1. Grow in fear of God and determine to render a reasonable service to Him.
2. Learn to serve God faithfully as long as you live.
3. Do not render to God an unworthy service, instead, serve Him with fear and honour.
4. Allow the fear of God to control and guide your actions.
Prayer: Dear Lord, you are great and powerful. Help me to serve you faithfully, and to fear you for the rest of my life, in Jesus‘ name, amen.
Reflection: God draws closer to you when you draw closer to Him; and He keeps His distance when you take Him lightly.

TOPIC : BE GRACIOUS TO THE POOR AND NEEDY
Monday, June 29, 2020
Bible Verse : The one who is gracious to the poor lends to the LORD, and the LORD will repay him for his good deed. Proverbs 19:17 (NET).
LISTEN : The poor will not cease in the world, therefore, they should be graciously assisted by all. (Deut 15:11). We should show some pity to those who are destitute and hurting. We should give to others to relieve their pain and stress. God has variously shown us His favours. Therefore, we should extend same favours to others. We should stop the endless journey with selfishness and begins a life-long journey with self-sacrifice. Friend, the Day you stop to live just for yourself is the day you have started to live for God. Learn to always consider the poor and needy. God is concerned about them, and so should we. Give to others what you will want them give to you. Jesus Christ gives a rule that everyone should abide by. He said, “In everything, treat others as you would want them to treat you, for this fulfill the law and the prophets.” (Matthew 7:12 NET). Beloved, how will you like others to treat you? Treat them like that too. Be compassionate to the poor, for what you do for them you do to God. Surely, God will repay what you give to make others comfortable, especially the poor and needy. Learn to be gracious, because being gracious is a mark of godliness. It is an expression of the nature of God. So, let us help those who are in need as we have the opportunity today (Galatians 6 : 10). Remember, when you neglect the poor and needy, you neglect God. Be wise!
Prayer : Dear Lord, help me to have compassion for others. In Jesus ‘ name.
