Authors: Bishop Julius Okarike

Verse Of The Day: Above all, keep your love for one another fervent, because love covers a multitude of sins. 1 Peter 4:8

THOUGHT OF THE DAY : Love is the cure for offences just as hate is the cause of unforgiveness.

LISTEN: Love is the centre of healthy relationships with others. Without love humanity will live outside the will of God. The Bible summarised love thus: Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.” What this simply means is that, love cares about welfare of others. (1 Corinthians 13:4-5). Therefore, forgiveness is possible with love. People struggle to forgive others because love is absent in their hearts. A heart that is bankrupt of love will be bankrupt of forgiveness. But no matter the offence, forgiveness is always available where love reigns. Beloved, love is the cure for all manner of evil and inhumane treatment in the world. Love is the balm that soothes the hurting and offended (Luke 17:3-4): it is the chord that binds us together even when those we love break our hearts. My dear, with love, no matter how offended or hurt you might be, you can still forgive others for christ’s sake, knowing that God forgave us through Jesus Christ His only begotten Son. (Matthew 6:14-15). Beloved, are you hurt by a friend, a colleague, your parents, your spouse, your relatives, etc., and therefore have sworn not to forgive? Have you been mistreated or rejected by others? And therefore, you have decided to avenge yourself? Never mind! Just allow love to rule in your heart, and God will surely vindicate you in due course. My dear, love heals all wounds, kills all pains and covers multitude of sins. Love is powerful, and more powerful than you think. Therefore, when you are offended, remember that love is the cure for offenses. When someone hurts you, rather than respond with same, learn to listen to the healing voice of love and you will be moved to forgive others. So, be wise!

Bible Verse : And in the morning, rising up a great while before day, he went out, and departed into a solitary place, and there prayed. Mark 1:35

LISTEN : Time with God is time with destiny. But do you have time to fellowship with the Spirit of God? Do you spend time with God? A God fearing person will always hunger and thirst after God. God is always at the center of everything he or she does. My dear, time with God is precious to Him and cannot be lost or wasted. God rewards our value for Him. Therefore, spending time with Him should be the yearning of everyone of us. Sadly, many spend their lives daily without having quality time with God. They do not have time to commune with Him in prayer, personal bible study, meditation, etc. They have no regard for the will of God. They have little or no time for Him. They seem to have forgotten that we are humans? And that we are created by God to serve His purposes? Beloved, do you know that failing to spend time with God would amount to failing to fulfill your God-given purpose? No matter how busy you are, always have time for God. Jesus Christ, while He walked the earth, worked round the clock (Acts 10:38), yet, had quality time with God (His Father) in prayer. (Mark 1:35). Beloved, never neglect to have time with God no matter what. Time with God will shape your future, correct your behaviour, direct your steps, give you access to God, give your life a meaning and save your soul from eternal destruction. Be wise!

Prayer : Heavenly Father, help me to fellowship with you always, amen.
