Verse Of The Day : Whatsoever your hand finds to do, do it with your might; for there is no work, nor device, nor knowledge, nor wisdom, in the grave… Ecclesiastics 9:10
LISTEN : A certain man was travelling one early morning. He called his children and assigned them some job to do in his farm. He said, “Please do what you you’ve been asked to do.” But he warned saying, “You must do it well or you leave it. For I have no pleasure in mediocrity.” My dear, God doesn’t enjoy mediocrity either. He desires and cherishes excellence. He wants us to be good at what we do. God wants us to showcase His image to the world. He wants you to give your best both in service to Him and humanity. In fact, He wants you to do whatever you must do with all your heart (Colosians 3:23). No matter what you do, if your heart is not in it, it doesn’t make sense to God. My dear, you’re created in the image and likeness of God – the image of glory, dominion, power, love, excellence, etc., and God wants us to reflect His image in our lives. He wants us to be the best at what we do. Beloved, you have no excuse to function less than your God-given abilities and assignments. So, shun procrastination and mediocrity. You don’t have all the time in the world, do you? We have just limited time. Someday we’ll not be here. Therefore, you should do what you must do with utmost urgency and dedication (Job 14:1; Eph 5:15,16); and live each day as though, it’s just your last minute on earth. My dear, you can’t fit well into the affairs of life if you don’t pursue excellence. Yes, determine to value excellence not mediocrity. Success – oriented organisations and businesses have nothing to do with a mediocre. You see! If you don’t have anything of value to offer, nobody will care much about you. If you can’t impact others you’re not worth it. So, be useful with your life. Remember, your existence will not count until you have made remarkable impacts. Henceforth, whatever you must do, determine to do it well. Be wise!
Having read today’s devotional, what is expected of you?
1. Be strong and courageous and strive always to be excellent.
2. Be happy and proud of what you do and make sure you do all to the glory of God.
3. Resist mediocrity and determine to go for excellence instead.
4. Don’t despise what you do. Instead, cherish and improve on it.
Prayer : Everlasting God! You are full of wisdom and power. Help me to live the way you want me to live, and do what you want me to do, amen.
Reflection : Human Life and the universe is a product of excellence. Hence, to live as a mediocre is to live as a nightmare to people of excellence.

TOPIC : MUST YOU TALK?
Wednesday, April 22, 2020
Bible Verse : Whoso keeps his mouth and his tongue keeps his soul from troubles. Proverbs 21:23
LISTEN : A woman who is known for her rambling talkativeness was asked by her husband as they walked down the street, “Honey, must you talk?” Like this woman, lots of people like to talk about everything and everyone they see. My dear, save your words to save life. Don’t forget that, life and death are in the power of the tongue. (Proverbs 18:21). Though, the tongue is a small organ of the body, but can pull down the greatest of men who choose to use it recklessly. Your mouth can be a great blessing to you and others if you use it wisely. It could equally be a curse, tragedy and source of great pain if you choose to use it wrongly and carelessly. Your life is not safe until your mouth is wisely guarded. Similarly, as a christian, your faith will amount to a waste of time if your tongue is not bridled. (James 1:26). He who professes faith in Christ Jesus, but enjoys a “wide mouth and unbridled tongue” deceives himself, and his profession of religion is in vain. Beloved, guard your mouth and tongue if you must escape some troubles of this life. Know when to talk and when to be mute. Don’t indulge hate speeches, gossiping, blackmailing, backbiting, or evil words from your mouth; instead, let the words of God guide your behaviour and utterances. Beloved, be wise and careful with your words, and your life will not be a nightmare to you. Remember, no one will prosecute you for not talking about everything and everyone. Be wise!
Prayer : Heavenly Father! I thank you for your words today. Help me to talk wisely and save myself some troubles, amen!
