Verse Of The Day : Do you see a man who excels in his work? He will stand before kings. Proverbs 22:29

LISTEN : Mediocrity according to the dictionary is ordinariness as a consequence of being average and not outstanding; the quality of being a mediocre. On the other hand, to excel is to be or do better than others. It is to be exceptionally good at or competent or skilled in doing or using something. It is to work with excellence. Excellence is key to promotion and greatness. It is the ladder to success. No one remains down or miserable with the spirit of excellence. Excellence is like a mountain, it does not hide. It is seen by everyone who has eyes. My dear, bearing “Excel” or “Excellence” as a name does not make you exceptionally good; the difference is your competence and skills in what you do. Couple of months ago, I told a story about a young man who bears the name, “Endurance”, but decided to change his name to “Excel.” One day, one of his friends called him by his new name and said, “Excel, why is it that you bear a good name but does things poorly?” He replied, “I just like the name, ‘Excel’, but I find it hard and tiring to excel.” Most people are like the young man in this story. They desire to excel but they do not work to excel (James 2:17). They fail to realise that excellence does not come by a mere wish but by diligent labour and the help of God. My dear, God really wants to bless you. He blesses people who have excellent spirit. He wants us to function in excellence because He is an excellent God. Surely, nothing can resist a person with an excellent spirit. (see Daniel 6:3). Excellent spirit is not about the job you do, but about how you do it; it is not about your position in your place of work, but about your relevant and profitable input to the work you do. Surely, you can be relevant and successful anywhere you are, if you invest more and more in becoming excellent. Beloved, nothing is small about excellence. If you do what you do well, you will experience the beauty of life. Remember, you can excel if you hate mediocrity. Be wise!

Bible Verse : But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law does he meditate day and night. Psalms 1:2

LISTEN : To delight is to have great pleasure. But the truth is, you cannot take great pleasure in what you do not love. To take great pleasure in the word of God, you must love God. Beloved, do you love the word of God? Are there benefits in loving the word of God? Will God’s word make you better than you are? My dear, the word of God is a refiner. It brings the best in us. Because God’s word is pure, it purifies anyone who values it. The Bible says, “The words of the LORD are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times.” (Psalms 12:6). Yes! The word of God revives, refreshes and reforms people. The Bible says, The law of the Lord is good, giving new life to the soul: the witness of the Lord is certain, giving wisdom to the foolish” (Psalms 19:7 BBE). Truly, when the word of God is present in a person’s life, transformation will occur; a sinner will be changed into a saint, hope will be given to the hopeless, bitterness will be turned to sweetness ; and shame will be turned into glory. Besides, God’s word is a way maker. It gives directions and enable those who esteem it highly to be successful and prevail in life. Beloved, how much do you love God’s word? Henceforth, grow your love for God and His words, and He will make you to succeed where others fail. Be wise!

Prayer : Heavenly Father, your word is true and active. Therefore, help me to love your words as long as I live, in Jesus’ name, amen.
