Verse Of The Day : For we have brought nothing into this world and so we cannot take a single thing out either. But if we have food and shelter, we will be satisfied with that. 1 Timothy 6:7-8

LISTEN : My dear, what do you pursue? What takes your time and energy? Don’t you think you are pursuing the wrong thing? Why are you addicted to materialism instead of God your creator? What is this rush and inordinate desire for material possessions today? Are we not forgetting something very vital to our existence? Are we not shifting our focus more and more to things of this life at the expense of God and our souls? My dear, When the heart is consumed by materialism, self-gratification will dominate godly disposition. For it will be practically impossible to serve God when you know that, you love material possessions more than God. Jesus said, “No one can serve two masters, for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and money. (Mathew 6:24 NET). What is materialism? The dictionary defined materialism as a way of thinking that gives too much importance to material possessions rather than to spiritual or intellectual things. My dear, believe in God and in the importance of living a moral life. Materialism beclouds good sense of reasoning and makes people lose interest in godliness and spirituality. It makes people think or feel that they will go on with their wealth in this world forever. What a poor way to think! Beloved, to actualize the true purpose of life, we should give much importance to spiritual and intellectual things, and less importance to material things. It is good to have and enjoy material possessions, but not at the expense of God and your soul. So, don’t forget that, we brought nothing into this world and so, we cannot take a single thing out of it either. Henceforth, pursue the things of God and don’t neglect to be relevant in the earth. Be wise!

Having read today’s devotional, what is expected of you?

3. Don’t forget that you brought nothing into this world and so, you will exit with nothing; so, think!
4. Henceforth, determine to live a selfless and godly life to the glory of God.

Bible Verse : Your word is a lamp to my feet, and a light for my path. Psalms 119:105

LISTEN : God’s word guides the wise. It leads him to where God wants him to go, and shows him what He wants him to do. The word of God is the carrier of His voice, and His voice expresses His will. Those who hear and obey the words of God can never miss their way. God’s word is the light that shines in our paths. It is the light with which we can see the right path in this wicked world. Without the light of His words we are limited. Truly, speed is limited when sight is impaired. Without sight, one will stumble and grope for directions. (Mathew 6:23). Beloved, what good sight is to you, God’s word is to your life. God’s word guides people through the right path. It is the key to a righteous and holy living. Those who keep step with the word of God cannot stray from God’s purpose. They are protected from dangers and traps of the devil. Their thoughts are weighed and refined by the word of God; as a result, their actions are in line with His will. They are not limited by forces of darkness because they receive light (insight, direction, revelation, knowledge understanding and wisdom) from the word of God. (Psalms 119:99,100). With God’s word in your heart, you are sure to follow His eternal purpose for your life. Beloved, follow the voice of God. God’s voice is hidden in His words. When you follow His voice you will discover His will and experience real life. Be wise!

Prayer : Dear Lord, I thank you for your words. Help me to abide by your words, amen.
