Author : Bishop Julius Okarike

Verse Of The Day : Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter into the Kingdom of Heaven; but he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. Matthew 7:21

LISTEN : Not every follower of Christ is a true disciple; and every fake disciple will miss the kingdom of God. You may call Jesus Christ your Lord, but until your mouth agrees with your heart, you’ve just succeeded in deceiving yourself. It is very easy to call someone your master, but difficult to serve as a servant. People hate to serve, but loves to be served. (Matthew 20:25-28). My dear, loyalty is not in what you say, but in what you do. He who claims to love God must prove it by his act of obedience and loyalty to Him. In our verse of the day Jesus Christ says to his audience, “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter into the Kingdom of Heaven; but he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven.” (Matthew 7:21). Beloved, this statement should disturb the heart of anyone who wants to spend eternity with God. This statement reveals that, not all churchgoers will be saved when Christ will return to the earth. Not all who cast out demons in the name of Jesus Christ will be saved. Not all who prophesied in the name of Jesus Christ will be saved in the end. Not all who do miracles in his name will inherit the kingdom of God. Not all who do mighty works in his name will be saved (see Matthew 7:22-23). Friend, whatever we do in the name of the LORD without sincerity we will end up wasting our time, deceiving ourselves and destroying our lives. God wants us to carry out His works in the world, as much as He wants us to obey His words. As a matter of fact, no matter what you do in the name of the LORD, if it is not done to glorify His name you have just lost His approval and attracted His wrath instead. Beloved, be real in your service to God and always be conscious of eternity. Remember, it is possible to spend all your time claiming to serve God, yet, misses heaven because you served Him in pretense. Be wise!

Having read today’s devotional, what is expected of you?
1. Be sincere in your service to God and be dedicated to Him.
2. Don’t be deceived by what God uses you to do, rather be focused on doing His will.
3. Never be a mere churchgoer, but rather strive to be faithful to God.
4. Be willing to serve the purpose of God in every situation no matter what.

Reflection : He who serves God without sincerity will end up wasting his time and deceiving himself.

Bible Verse : For the word of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us who are saved it is the power of God. 1 Corinthians 1:18

LISTEN: The gospel of Christ to humanity is a privilege. Sadly, this wonderful gospel of the kingdom of God has been despised by a lot of people today. In some countries of the world. Christians are persecuted and incarcerated because the eyes of men are blinded to the truth and saving grace of God. The gospel of Christ won’t make sense to anyone, but only to those whose eyes are spiritually opened. My dear, do you know you are lost without Jesus Christ. Surely, people are saved or lost by their own choices. Anyone who does not make the decision to be saved will forever be lost. To be lost is to live in sin, and refusing to accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour. It is to reject and despise the sacrificial death of Jesus Christ on the cross: to remain an enemy of God and be condemned forever. Beloved, we all have equal opportunity to be saved through Jesus by faith. Therefore, to continue to reject Him and His gospel is to choose to perish forever. The gospel has power to bring you back to God and give you a future. If till now you still see the word of God as foolishness, then you are doomed, unless you repent. The Bible says “For the word of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us who are saved it is the power of God.” (1Corinthians 1:18). Beloved, accept the gospel of Christ Jesus today. Hurry now for time is running out! The more time you waste the closer you are to hell. Be wise!

Prayer : Dear LORD, help me to accept the gospel of Jesus Christ. And may I never take the gospel as foolishness, in Jesus’ name, amen.
