Verse Of The Day : Speak for those who cannot speak; seek justice for all those on the verge of destruction. Speak up, judge righteously, and defend the rights of the afflicted and oppressed. Proverbs 31:8-9 (ISV).

LISTEN : We all are called to defend the right of the afflicted. Sadly, privileged individuals, governments and leaders of nations of the world have neglected to alleviate the plight of others; raise standard of living, defend the defenseless, give hope to the hopeless, and make life worthwhile for those they claim to serve or rule over; instead, they kill and maim the same people they sworn to protect, just to stay in power. Most judges judge for a reward. They work for the ‘highest bidder.’ Justice today seems to be mainly for the rich and not for the poor. What a world! What a complete neglect to our God-given responsibility! Beloved, whatever position you occupy, you’re there to serve the purpose of God. And one of these purposes is to defend the poor and those who can’t defend themselves. My dear, be the voice of the innocent person who has been denied justice; be the voice of the oppressed and afflicted if you have the power to do so. Never neglect this responsibility because God is watching us from heaven (Proverbs 24:11-12). My dear, speak up for the downtrodden and seek their deliverance. The Bible says, “Speak for those who cannot speak; seek justice for all those on the verge of destruction. Speak up, judge righteously, and defend the rights of the afflicted and oppressed.” (Proverbs 31:8-9). Beloved, everyone of us has the responsibility to speak up and defend the rights of the afflicted and oppressed, and cry against injustice in our homes, societies, nations, schools, etc, until justice is done and seen to have been done. Be wise!

Having read today’s devotional, what is expected of you?
1. Don’t be silent on injustice, rather speak up until something is done.
2. Determine to defend the oppressed and afflicted within your powers and trust God for intervention.
3. Discourage and speak against injustice in your home and protect the rights of the weak.
4. Shun corruption and insist on fairness and integrity wherever you are.

Prayer : Dear Lord, you’re the God of justice; the defender of the defenseless. Therefore, help me to serve your purpose on the earth, in Jesus’ name, amen.

Reflection : The righteous defends the rights of the afflicted and oppressed; cry against injustice in the home, society, school, etc., until justice is done.

Quote : “When those who should defend the rights of the afflicted are the ones afflicting them, God’s grace has been taken for granted.”

Faith Confession : In Jesus’ name, I acknowledged that, we all have the responsibility to speak up against injustice, and defend the defenseless. Therefore, I will do my best to the glory of God, amen.

Biblical Fact : Did you know Simeon and Levi the sons of Jacob, kill the people of Shechem because Shechem the son of Hamor defiled their sister Dinah? (Genesis 34:1-27)

Today In History : December 9, 1992 U.S. Marines land in Somalia to ensure food and medicine reaches the deprived areas of that country.

Stunning Fact : Did you know an iguana can stay under water for 28 minutes?

A Word Of Blessing : It’s well with you. May you not abandon your God-given responsibility to humanity. May you serve and be honoured, in Jesus’ name, amen.

Bible Verse : Casting all your worries on him, because he cares for you. 1 Peter 5:7

LISTEN : Stop worrying over nothing because God is in control. “Worry, worry, worry! Can you fix any problems just by worrying about them?” A man asked his troubled friend. Sadly, this is what most people do. Worrying about everything. Why worry about your needs and problems when you can pray and trust God for it? Do you think God doesn’t care about you? Besides, what do you think you can fix by worrying yourself? Beloved, God cares about you. Yes, He cares about us! No matter what you’re facing right now, God is still faithful and does care about you. (Psalms 94:14 ; 55:22). The faithfulness of God is for all generations. Therefore, always trust His faithfulness and He’ll sustain you. Don’t believe the lies that God doesn’t care about your problems. Our verse of the day says, “Casting all your worries on him, because he cares for you” (1 Peter 5:7). Beloved, God is your maker. He created you for His good purposes. So, why doubt His ability to meet your needs and fix your problems. My dear, cheer up! God loves you. Learn to have faith in Him, stop worrying yourself, trust His promises, determine never to give up on Him, refuse to fear or faint in the face of troubles, and wait patiently for Him. Don’t waste your time worrying when you can praise, pray and trust God’s faithfulness. God is willing to help, so don’t destroy your life. Look up in faith, surely you’ll see God. Learn to cast all your worries on Him, because he cares for you. Be wise!

Prayer : Blessed Father, because I believe in you therefore, I drop my burdens and pains at your feet today, amen.
