Verse Of The Day : … and whoso breaks an hedge, a serpent shall bite him. Ecclesiastics 10:8

LISTEN : My dear, be wise, for the devil is spying you. He’s like a roaring lion looking for who to devour. However, no matter how hungry or angry a lion might be, it can never devour a sheep that is in a stronghold. It can only move round and round trying to grab the sheep but can never touch it, because of the protection that is built around it. I was standing outside in my house on a particular day, and I watched a fowl struggling with a standing transparent bottle full of groundnuts. It moved round and round pecking the bottle repeatedly in desperation and frustration, but couldn’t access it. Rather than eat the groundnuts, the groundnuts became the fowl’s frustration. And I asked myself, “What if these grains of groundnut were spread on the ground? Would the fowl not have eaten them up?” Certainly yes! With that experience I learned the importance of divine protection. Beloved, this is how you’re protected when you hide yourself in God. (John 10:28-30; Psalms 125:2). Anything hidden in God is hidden out of the reach of the enemy; for who God protects the devil can’t devour. The devil can’t succeed with you except you break the hedge (God’s protection) around your life. A hedge is something that provides protection or defence. My dear, when you decide to walk in disobedience to God you have chosen to expose yourself to the devil. The Bible says, “… and whoso breaks an hedge, a serpent shall bite him.” (Ecclesiastics 10:8). So, walk in the fear of God and you’ll abide under His shadow; walk in disobedience to Him and you’ll be bitten by the serpent. Beloved, watch your steps because the devil is within. Be wise!

Having read today’s devotional, what is expected of you?
1. Never open up yourself to the devil through disobedience, instead obey God no matter what.
2. Abide in Christ Jesus and continue to serve the purpose of His kingdom on the earth.
3. Never be in enmity with God, rather work hard to build a warm relationship with Him.
4. Confess your sin to God and receive His forgiveness and determine to walk in newness of life.

Bible Verse : Although a righteous person may fall seven times, he gets up again, but the wicked will be brought down by calamity. Proverbs 24:16

LISTEN : Are you down today? Trust me, you’ll rise again. In life, anyone can fall, but not everyone can be down and out. A fall in this context talks about trials, troubles, problems, crisis, misery and the like. A fall is just a stage in life and not the destination of the righteous. God is with the righteous. He’s always with those who love Him (Isaiah 43:1-2). His presence is with those who are bought by the blood of Jesus Christ through faith. When they fall, they shall rise again. They shall rise again because the Almighty hand of God will help them up. They’re too grounded in faith to remain down after a fall. They’re not ignorant of the words of God (John 8:32). Therefore, it’s impossible for them to fall cheaply to the lies of the enemy. When the devil makes them think they can’t come out of their troubles, the word of God gives them assurance of divine intervention. My dear, it’s not possible for you to fall and not rise again if you’re faithfully walking with God. Beloved, I see you rising from your miserable fall. You’re rising from your financial crisis, academic and career failures, family conflict, marital and relationships crisis, in Jesus’ name. My dear, determine to rise anytime you fall. No one will remember how many times you fall if you’re not down and out after the fall. It’s not about how many times you fall, but how many times you get up and keep going. Be wise!

Prayer : Dear Lord, help me to rise and overcome my troubles, amen.
