Author: Bishop Julius Okarike
Verse Of The Day: My eyes stay open through the night watches, that I might meditate on your word. Psalms 119:148
LISTEN: Time is precious and should be spent wisely. What you spend your time on should both affect your life now and in eternity. Meditate in God’s word to discover His will. God’s will is the purpose of our existence. Hence, a God fearing person won’t rest until he or she has discovered and begins to do what pleases God (Job 23:12). My dear, it’s hard to do the will of God if you can’t spend time in His words. God’s word reveals His will. Therefore, until you understand His word you can’t follow His will. David deliberately denied himself some sleep just to meditate on the word of God. That expresses how much he loves to do the will of God. His purpose of staying awake all night was not to attend to his domestic needs, worry over life’s circumstances, plot the downfall of his enemies, worry over wealth and prosperity of others, etc., but to meditate in the word of God. No wonder God called him “a man after my own heart” (Acts 13 22). He spent quality time in God’s word trying to find His will; He spent time in quiet thought for religious purposes; He engaged his mind for the purpose of reaching a heightened level of spiritual awareness. My dear, like David, are you spending time in the word of God to discover His will? Are you more concerned about affairs of this life than following the will of God? Please think! Use your time wisely, Remember, God’s word is worth your time. If you can’t spend your time learning to know God you’re living in vain. Be wise!

Saturday, November 30, 2019
Bible Verse : Because of the oppression of the weak and because of the groaning of the needy, I will now arise,” says the LORD; “I will set him in safety from those who malign him. Psalms 12:5
LISTEN : Are you in a difficult or hopeless situation? God will deliver you. He will not abandon the oppressed and afflicted. He sees the miseries and gnashing of teeth of the oppressed. He listens to their day to day groaning. (Exodus 3:7). Though, sometimes it may seem like He is taking too long to intervene, surely, He will eventually intervene. (Luke 18:7,8). He will certainly break the yoke of oppression in the neck of the oppressed. Beloved, are you oppressed physically, mentally, or spiritually? Have you been unfairly and cruelly treated? Is your heart broken and pierced with sadness or memories of afflictions and oppressions? Are you terrified because of increase of oppression in your life? Do not be afraid; God will deliver you from your oppressors. The Bible says, “Because of the oppression of the weak and because of the groaning of the needy, I will now arise,” says the LORD; “I will set him in safety from those who malign him.” (Psalms 12:5).God is the voice of the voiceless, defender of the vulnerable ; and hope of the hopeless. With Him, no oppressor is too powerful to be subdued. When you acknowledge and surrender to God, your battle becomes His battle and victory is sure. So, cheer up! God will surely rise to defend you. Be wise!
Prayer : Everlasting Father, you’re powerful. Deliver me from my oppressors, amen.
