Author : Bishop Julius Okarike

Verse Of The Day : As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the household of faith. Galatians 6:10

LISTEN : Be busy with your life, but don’t be unreasonably busy. Don’t be too busy for God and service to humanity. Be sensitive to the plight of others. Couple of months ago, I told a story of a man whose life is characterised by busyness. He never had time for anyone, but only for his own business. His life was crowded with activities that he became so insensitive to the needs and plight of others. One day, he was travelling to a certain city, and was flagged down by a man who was wounded by armed robbers but escaped the armed robbery attack on the same road he was travelling on. And because he was a very busy man who never cares about others, he refused to stop but rather, accelerated his speed. Not quite a long distance from the point he was flagged down by the wounded man, the armed robbers attacked his car. As he was struggling to escape they shot him and he died. He wouldn’t have ended up that way had he shown a little kindness to the wounded man. Sadly, lots of people are like this man. They’re too busy that the lives of others don’t matter to them (see Luke 10:25-37). They’re too busy to recognise opportunities to help others. My dear, it’s good to be busy with your life, but don’t be unreasonably busy. Always recognise opportunities to help others. Don’t forget that, to be unreasonably busy with life is to be ungrateful to God. Henceforth, don’t be unreasonably busy. Be wise!

Having read today’s devotional, what is expected of you?
1. No matter how busy you are, don’t ignore opportunities to help others.
2. Never allow what you do to prevent you from doing what God expects of you.
3. Never close your eyes to the needs of others, instead, seize the opportunity to help them.
4. Henceforth, shun laziness, be busy with your life, but don’t be too busy for others.

Bible Verse : Peter said to them, “Repent, and each one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins… Acts 2:38
LISTEN : True repentance attracts forgiveness. Repentance according to the Bible is, “to change one’s mind.” (Romans 12:2). It means to turn to God and turn from evil. To truly repent, God needs to change your mind about sin. The Bible says “You who love the LORD, hate evil!” (Psalms 97:10). Beloved, true repentance happens when we see sin as God sees it. Until we treat sin as sin, repentance has not yet occurred in our lives. True repentance pleads with God to forgive and deliver from the influence of sin and the fear of eternal judgment and hell. Until we realise the consequences of sin and the need for our escape, we will continue to pamper sin to our own hurt; but when we repent, we are blessed with eternal life. My dear, open your heart to the will of God. Heed His warnings and run for your dear life. Repent and come to Him by faith and be blessed today, for a bit of delay could be disastrous. Remember, it’s time to return to God. Be wise!

Prayer : Everlasting Father, I repent of my sin today. Help me to live the rest of my life to the glory of your name, in Jesus’ name, amen.
