Author : Bishop Julius Okarike

Verse Of The Day : For you have been rooted in him and are being built up and strengthened in the faith, just as you were taught, while you continue to be thankful. Colosians 2:7 (ISV).

LISTEN : Thankfulness is good and pleasing to God. Even when it is painful and difficult to give thanks, God wants us to do it all the same, for it is a sacrifice pleasing to Him (1 Thessalonians 5:18; Hebrews 13:15). One evening, as a woman and her children gathered for dinner, her oldest daughter asked her, “Mother, why are you always thankful even for the smallest favour? Must you be thankful for everything?” Looking at her daughter, the woman smiled and said, “My daughter, thankfulness is the beauty of life. It keeps you positive, hopeful and charming. It opens doors and blesses you with opportunities to be accepted by others. Thankfulness attracts goodness, and life will be a nightmare without goodness. So, have a thankful heart always.” Most of us are like this girl who wondered why her mother was thankful for everything. My dear, do you have a thankful heart? A thankful heart can’t be empty of favour with God and man; because he who is thankful for favour received, will receive more favour. Besides, thankfulness is an attitude of faith and mental and emotional lift to us and those around us. So, be thankful and create atmosphere of thankfulness. Truth is, an atmosphere of thankfulness creates more faith and uplifts you and those around you. Therefore, no matter the circumstance, always be thankful. Be wise!

Bible Verse : Cast your burden upon the LORD, and he shall sustain you: he shall never suffer the righteous to be moved. Psalms 55:22

LISTEN : Jesus said, Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. (Matthew 11:28). Jesus Christ cares about you and wants to help you. Sadly, a lot of people pretend as though all is well with them, but down deep in their hearts they know that all is not well. Beloved, you are not the only person going through some difficult situations and moments in life, everyone of us partake in it at one point or the other. Just have faith in God. He is the only one that knows and cares. He wants to help you, but only when you put your hope and trust in Him. (1 Peter 5:7). He knows your problems and understands where it hurts. He is a burden bearer, for He equally felt pains at some point in the hands of wicked people. Beloved, what is your burden? What is aching your heart? What kind of burden is weighing you down? What are you worried about? Is it finance? Your marriage? Your education? Your family background? Your ministry? Your health? What? My dear, cheer up! Don’t give the enemy a reason to rejoice over you. Put your trust in God and accept the invitation He has extended to you today. Be wise!

Prayer : Dear Lord, I surrender my troubles and worries to you today. Help me to overcome, in Jesus’s name, amen!
