Verse Of The Day : Samson said, “Let me die with the Philistines!” He pushed hard and the temple collapsed on the rulers and all the people in it… Judges 16:30

LISTEN : How the mighty has fallen! What a great anointing and a pitiable end! Samson the son of Manoah was greatly anointed by God. He was recorded as the strongest man in the Bible. He was full of strength, and dreaded by enemies of Israel. In one occasion he killed the lion that came after him (Judges 14:5-6). In another occasion he killed a thousand Philistines with the jawbone of a donkey (Judges 15:14-16). The enemies of Israel were practically afraid of him. As a matter of fact, he was ‘a thorn in their flesh.’ Sadly, he ended miserably because he chooses to disobey and despise God. He has contempt for holiness, obedience and dedication to God. He practically sold himself to the Philistines the enemies of Israel, because he loves sin. He lusted after Delilah, and therefore, lost his good sense of reasoning, his eyes, and ultimately life. No person of great anointing follows ‘Delilah’ and remains the same. To walk with ‘Delilah’, be prepared to lose your vision and life. My dear, what is life without vision? The Bible says, Where there is no vision, the people perish: but he that keeps the law, happy is he. (Proverbs 29:18). Samson lost God’s purpose for his life, and therefore, lost his sight and his life.

Delilah came with a deceptive appearance, and discovered the secrets of Samson’s strength, and sold him to her own people the Philistines, who shaved his head and cut him off from his source of supernatural strength; and tied him up and pluck his eyes and turned him to a blind slave. His life became pitiable and a laughing stock that he had to practically beg God for power to perish with the Philistines. So sad! How the mighty has fallen. Unfortunately, a lot of people are still travelling on the same road that leads to death (Proverbs 14:12). They still lust after ‘Delilah’ (sin, immorality, unholiness, ungodliness, etc.). My dear, ‘if Samson couldn’t survive Delilah, don’t think you will survive her’; for no one loves Delilah and not end up being miserable. So, make a U-turn today. No matter how far you have gone down the road with sin, return and God will receive you. Beloved, don’t wait until the only option left to you is to perish with sinners like Samson, rather resist the devil and he will flee. Be wise!

Having read today’s devotional, what is expected of you?
1. Be careful who you share your secrets with, because you may not remain the same again after that.
2. Shun sin and its pleasures and embrace righteousness, godliness and the fear of God.
3. Determine to be dedicated to God and resist any enticement to do evil.
4. Embrace Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour today, and don’t wait until the only option left to you is to perish with sinners.

Bible Verse : Do you see someone who is hasty in his words? There is more hope for a fool than for him. Proverbs 29:20

LISTEN : Beloved, don’t be hasty in your words. Learn to think before you speak. If you think before you speak you will have less troubles with your words. However, your mouth will not speak wisely if your heart is not yet renewed. People speak bitter and angry words, taunt and mock others, blackmail, insult, brag and lie all the times because their hearts are yet to be renewed. When our hearts are renewed by the word of God, our mouths will speak rightly to glorify God and bless humanity. My dear, are you slow to speak or hasty in your words? Mind what you say to others whether great or small. Besides, mind what you say to yourself in times of troubles. No matter how much you are pushed by circumstances of life to confess otherwise, always speak good things into your life. Remember, words are powerful. You could be made or marred by your words. Henceforth, don’t be quick to speak, rather, think before you speak. Be wise!

Prayer : Dear Lord, I thank you for your words today. Help me to speak wisely always, amen!
