Verse Of The Day : Do you see a man who excels in his work? He will stand before kings. Proverbs 22:29

LISTEN : To excel is to be or do better than others. It is to be exceptionally good at or competent or skilled in doing or using something. It is to work with excellence. Excellence is key to promotion and greatness. It is the ladder to success. No one remains down or miserable with the spirit of excellence. Excellence is like a mountain, it does not hide. It is seen by everyone who has eyes. Friend, bearing “Excel” or “Excellence” as a name does not make you exceptionally good. What does is your competence and skill in what you do. A young man who bears the name, “Endurance” decides to change his name to “Excel.” One day, one of his friends called him by his new name and said, “Excel, why is it that you bear a good name but does things poorly?” He replied, “I just like the name, ‘Excel’, but I find it hard and tiring to excel.” Most people are like the young man in this story. They desire to excel but they do not work to excel (James 2:17). They fail to realise that excellence does not come by a mere wish but by diligent labour and the help of God. My dear, God really wants to bless you. He blesses people who have excellent spirit. He wants us to function in excellence because He is an excellent God. Surely, nothing can resist a person with an excellent spirit. Excellent spirit is not about the job you do, but about how you do it. It is not about your position in your place of work, but about your relevant and profitable input to the work you do. Surely, you can be relevant and successful anywhere you are, if you invest more and more in becoming excellent. My dear, nothing is small about excellence. If you do what you do well, you will experience the beauty of life. Be wise!

Having read today’s devotional, what is expected of you?
1. Work hard to achieve excellence no matter what.
2. Determine to make a difference in your life, job, career and whatever you do.
3. Determine to break the yoke of mediocrity in your life and function in excellence instead.

Bible Verse : For you have armed me with strength for the battle. You have subdued under me those who rose up against me. 2 Samuel 22:40

LISTEN: My dear, there is nothing to worry about because God has armed us for the battles of life. You can never lose any battle when you are clothed in God’s armour. Beloved, are you faced with trials and very difficult situations? Are you afraid that you may lose your peace of mind, and possibly your life in the process? Are you confused about what else to do? Are you asking in frustration when all that will be over? Beloved, do you know you can overcome your fears by placing your hope in God? This is possible to achieve when you grow your faith. When you trust God, He will arm you with supernatural strength to make it through the storm. Beloved, I may not really know what you are going through right now, but I have a God who knows and wants to help you. But you must acknowledge Him as your Saviour and source of strength. In our verse of the day, David acknowledged and revered God as his deliverer, stronghold and source of strength. He acknowledged and praised God as the hand behind his victory over all his enemies, including King Saul. (2 Samuel 22:3). David made it through the storm because his hope was in the living God. In spite of his trials and afflictions he could boldly say, “Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for you are with me; your rod and your staff they comfort me.”(Psalms 23:4). Friend, do not be afraid, put your hope in God and you will make it through the storm of your life. Remember, God has armed you for the battles of life. Be wise!

Prayer : Most High God, I know that life is full of trials and afflictions. Therefore, protect me from evil and all the plans of the wicked, in Jesus’ name, amen.
