Author : Bishop Julius Okarike

Verse Of The Day : When they had prayed, the place was shaken where they were gathered together. They were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and they spoke the word of God with boldness. Acts 4:31

LISTEN : A church member asked his pastor. “Sir, does prayer works? How powerful is prayer?” “Prayer is as powerful as your faith in God.” Replied his pastor. Beloved, that is true for everyone of us. Faith gives strength and answer to your prayers. You cannot experience the power of prayer until you enjoy to pray in faith. Prayer is powerful. It prepares the heart to encounter God. Prayer opens the window of heaven to those who invest in it (prayer). It gives answers to questions of life. When men pray God answers. When men pray fervently demonic foundations are shaken and removed. (Acts 12:5-7). Prayer gives confidence and courage to a troubled heart. My dear, comfort is not far from anyone who delights to pray. Because of the relevance of prayer Jesus said, “… men ought always to pray, and not to faint” (Luke 18:1). He who prays in spite of discouragement and delays will unfailingly receive divine intervention. Amazingly, the full power of prayer is released when prayer is combined with praise. A heartfelt prayer and praise God cannot resist. Beloved, how much do you love to pray and praise God? When you pray, certainly you will receive power from heaven. And when the power of God comes, all powers will bow. Friend, no power stands when the power of God is provoke by prayer and praise. So, pray and praise God and you will discover how powerful prayer is. Be wise!

Having read today’s devotional, what is expected of you?
1. Pray to God always and you will discover His power.
2. No matter what, do not give up on prayer, instead pray without ceasing.
3. When you pray to God, praise Him too, to unlock the door of His blessings.
4. Make prayer your delight and you will discover how good God is.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, you are the most powerful God. Help me to pray in line with your will, and receive answers to my prayer, amen!

Reflection : Faith and prayer give confidence and courage to a troubled heart.

Quote: “Faith gives strength and answer to prayers. But no one can experience the power of prayer until he or she enjoys to pray in faith.”

Faith Confession : Today, I confess that God hears prayers that are done in faith. Therefore, I will pray in faith henceforth, amen!

Biblical Fact : Did you know Elijah proves to the prophets of Baal that God is the living God when the fire of the LORD fell? (1Kings 18:36-38).

Today In History : February 8, 1887 Congress passes the Dawes Act, which gives citizenship to Indians living apart from their tribe.

Stunning Fact : Did you know sun light can penetrate clean ocean water up to a depth of 73m (240 feet)?

A Word Of Blessing : May God bless you. May He answer your prayer and put a smile on your face today, in Jesus’ name, amen.

Bible Verse : If we live, we live for the Lord; if we die, we die for the Lord. Therefore, whether we live or die, we are the Lord’s. Romans 14:8

LISTEN : A lot of people today including believers in Christ Jesus claim to serve God, but only few of them are truly serving God in spirit and in truth. Just few believers are committed to Him whether dead or alive. It is quite hard today to see people who declare their loyalty to God and stay committed to Him when trials hit them. A lot of people are no longer living for God but for themselves and Satan. They place their own interests and opinions above God’s. Friend, those who choose to place their own interests above God’s, will wander into the wilderness of frustration, heartbreak and emptiness. As a wise person, you should strive to glorify God with your life. You should endeavour to live for God and not just for yourself. Friend, if you are living just for yourself, you are living just for nothing. (Mark 8:36,37). So, do not abandon or ignore God. He who abandons God to pursue the world will eventually discover that he has laboured in vain. Surely, those who live in this life just to please themselves at the expense of God, will exit this world to mourn and groan forever in hell. Be wise!

Prayer: Blessed Father, I appreciate you because Christ Jesus died for the salvation of the world. Help me to put my trust in you and to serve you as long as I live, amen.
