Author : Bishop Julius Okarike

Verse Of The Day : So in all our distress and affliction, we were reassured about you, brothers and sisters, through your faith. For now we are alive again, if you stand firm in the Lord. 1 Thessalonians 3:7-8

LISTEN : Beloved, do you know your faith is an encouragement to someone else? As a christian, your faith is designed to build up others and strengthen them in the LORD. (2 Corinthians 7:6-7) Apostle Paul in his letter to Thessalonian Christians, expressed how happy himself and his colleagues were for the faith demonstrated by believers in Thessalonica (Thessaloniki). Their faith in Christ Jesus prove to Apostle Paul and his colleagues that their own labour in building them in the faith was not a wasted effort, time and energy. Despite their sustained distress, persecution and affliction for the sake of the gospel of the kingdom of God, Paul and his fellow labourers in the gospel of Christ were comforted by the faith of the Thessalonians. In the same way, we are happy when people receive the word of God through us and grow spiritually. Friend, when your life is made better by the word of God, it gives us (preachers) joy. My dear, every piece of this daily devotional should develop your faith in Christ, and life generally to meet the purpose of God for your life. We (preachers of the gospel all over the world) are taking pains to speak and write daily the words of God to people so that we can save as many as the LORD God wants to save through us. Beloved, are you strong in faith? Have you been transformed by the word of God? Like Apostle Paul, we are happy when your faith excel. So, do not be a forgetful hearer, instead, pay attention to the word of God and build your life around it. (James 1:22-25). Be real with your service to God and never pretend to love Him. Remember, if the word of God you have heard cannot change you, you have wasted a vital part of your life. Be wise!

Bible Verse : Your word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against you. Psalms 119:11

LISTEN : The word of God is precious and so is our heart. If we value our lives we should value the words of God much more. His word gives life. God’s word opens our eyes to His will and fill our hearts with honour and awe for Him. His word is good enough to keep us from sin. People enjoy living in sin because they are bankrupt of the word of God. Friend, how much do you love the word of God? God’s words in your heart will influence your life positively. Your actions are based on the state of your heart. Therefore, if your heart is empty of God’s words, your actions will be dominated by evil. That is why we are urged to protect our hearts. The Bible says, “Guard your heart with all vigilance, for from it are the sources of life.” (Proverbs 4:23). Beloved, if you lose control of your heart, you have lost control of your life. So, guard your heart jealously with the words of God, because your life is a function of it. Do not play with God’s words, instead, take it seriously. Our Bible verse this evening tells us how to stay out of sin and disobedience to God. The Psalmist says, “Your word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against you.” (Psalms 119:11). Beloved, do you have God’s words in your heart? Do you read and meditate in the words of God? If not, do it today and you will be blessed. Never forget that, if your heart is empty of God’s word, your life will be empty of His purpose for your life. Be wise!

1. Pray and bless God for His love and the gift of life.
2. Ask for forgiveness and restoration of your life.
3. Pray for divine protection tonight and the peace of God in your heart.
4. Ask God for grace to treasure His words in your heart.
5. Pray and cancel every evil plan against you tonight.

It is well with you. May the Lord bless you and open your eyes to His will as long as you live, in Jesus’ name, amen.
