Verse Of The Day : Is any among you afflicted? let him pray. James 5:13

LISTEN : The world is full of people who are suffering, hurting, rejected, disappointed, frustrated, sick, heartbroken, traumatised, oppressed, betrayed, wrongly imprisoned, and all manner of heart-wrenching experiences. There is no society or nation of the world that you will not find those who are faced with one trouble or the other. Some are going through financial problems, while many others are facing health, marital, academic, and familial problems. The lists go on and on. The pitiable state of humanity could be summarised in one word, “affliction”. Affliction is the state of being afflicted : the cause of persistent pain, distress and great suffering. Beloved, are you afflicted? Are you suffering? And your suffering seems to have no end? Not to worry! Talk to God about it. Our verse of the day says, “Is any among you afflicted? let him pray.” (James 5:13). Tell God your concerns and drop your questions with Him. He has answers to them all. My dear, prayer brings God’s attention to your problems. If you can pray sincerely to Him, He will give solutions to your problems. You have not yet received solutions to your problems because you choose to handle it yourself. The Bible says,”You desire and you do not have. . .because you do not ask.” (James 4:3). When you ask, I assure you that you will receive from God. (see Matthew 7:7,8). No matter the affliction, pray; and never rely on your own strength. Always remember that what your strength cannot carry God can carry it. So, pray until God hears you. Be wise!

Having read today’s devotional, what is expected of you?

Bible Verse : Behold how good and pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity… for there the LORD commanded the blessing, even life for evermore Psalms 133:1,3

LISTEN: Friend, does your home encourage unity among family members? Do you know unity is the beauty of life? Yes, it is the language of love. Unity cannot survive where love is absent. Unity brings progress and development. It brings the blessings of God to the people. When a family decides to embrace unity, they have equally positioned themselves for the blessings of God. But any family divided against itself cannot stand. (Mark 3:25). Besides, a divided family will shut the door of progress and development (blessing) against itself. Unity goes with peace, where you cannot find unity you cannot find peace ; and where you cannot find peace you cannot find unity. Beloved, God’s blessings go to where there is peace and unity. God blesses a peaceful and united home, because He knows His blessings will be useful and appreciated. Without peace and unity, blessings received cannot be sustained. Friend, are you living in peace and unity in your home? Are you really getting on well with other members of your family? Unity is good and attracts God’s blessings. The Bible says, “How good and pleasant it is for brethren (brothers and sisters) to live together in unity: for there the LORD commanded the blessing, even life for evermore.” (Psalms 133:1,3) So, pursue unity and God’s blessings will come your way. Be wise!

1. Thank God for keeping you alive and safe today.
2. Ask the Lord to forgive your sins and restore your relationship with Him.
3. Ask God for spirit of unity and grace to get on well with others.
4. Pray for protection and peace of mind.
5. Thank God for answering your prayer.

May God give you the spirit of unity to get on well with others. May His blessings locate you, in Jesus’ name, amen.
