Author: Bishop Julius Okarike
Verse Of The Day: My eyes stay open through the night watches, that I might meditate on your word. Psalms 119:148
LISTEN: It will be practically impossible to follow God’s instructions if you are not minded to do His will. A godly minded person will not rest until he or she has discovered and begins to do what pleases God (Job 23:12). However, to do the will of God, you must first spend time in His words. God’s word reveals His will. Therefore, until you understand His word you cannot follow His will. David deliberately denied himself some sleep just to meditate on the word of God. That goes to show how much he loves to do the will of God. Unlike many other people, David’s purpose of staying awake all night was not to attend to his domestic needs, worry over life’s circumstances, plot the downfall of his enemies, worry over wealth and prosperity of others, etc., but to meditate in the word of God. Wow! No wonder God called him “a man after my own heart” (Acts 13 22). He spent quality time in God’s word trying to find the will of God. He meditated in the word of God. Beloved, To meditate is to spend time in quiet thought for religious purposes. It is to engage in contemplation or reflection. It is to engage the mind for the purpose of reaching a heightened level of spiritual awareness. That was what David expended his time to do. Like David, are you spending time in the word of God to discover God’s will? Are you minded to do the will of God? Are you more concerned about affairs of this life than following the will of God? My dear, reflect and return to God today. Determine to discover His will and live it. Remember, you discovered nothing if you have discovered everything and not discover God. And you have gained nothing when you gained everything and not gain God. Be wise!

TOPIC : WAITING IS NOT WASTING
Monday, January 7, 2019
Bible Verse : Rest in the LORD, and wait patiently for him. Do not fret because of him who prospers in his way, because of the man who makes wicked plots happen. Psalms 37:7
LISTEN: Beloved, you cannot waste while waiting for God (Isaiah 40:31). Do you know that waiting is not wasting? If God asks you to wait, wait! When you follow divine instructions you will not miss your way. So, calm down and wait for God. Have faith in Him and He will give you what is good for you. He will grant you your heart desires. Those who do the needful and wait for God to crown their efforts cannot be disappointed. Sadly, a lot of people feel bad when they are asked to wait for what they desired so much. They feel disappointed any time it appears like they have been abandoned. They fail to acknowledge the fact that God cannot forsake His people. (Hebrew 13:5). God is merciful and kind to His people. No matter what happens, it shall be well with those who trust and wait for God. Beloved, do not worry about the “prosperity” of the wicked, instead, strive to live in line with the will of God; certainly you will not regret it. Never be in a hurry for prosperity, rather, be diligent and trust the LORD. Always lean on God even when it seems like nothing is working for you. People may give up on you or reject you, yet, do not give up on God. Besides, do not envy the wicked who “prospers” in what he does, for he will not stand when God visits. Wait for the blessings of the LORD, though it may delay, but it will surely come, and it will come with no sorrow. (Proverbs 10:22). My dear, no matter what, do not rush to where God does not lead you to, because you will surely rush out with a broken heart. Be wise!
1. Glorify God for today no matter the challenges of the day.
2. Ask God for forgiveness, and grace to be committed to Him.
3. Pray God to help you wait patiently for Him in all situations.
4. Intercede for believers in Christ around the world for grace to live for God.
5. Pray against all sorts of wickedness, and ask God to protect you.
