Verse Of The Day : So Jesus told those Jews who had believed in him, “If you continue in my word, you are really my disciples.” John 8:31

LISTEN : Not everyone is a genuine disciple of Jesus Christ. Surely, he who believes in Jesus Christ will continue in His word. Anyone can verbally claim to be a genuine disciple of Jesus Christ, but not everyone is truly serving His purpose. Anyone can sing His praise, but not everyone can stick with Him when the going gets tough. Anyone can hear His words, but not everyone is a true disciple. A disciple is one who accepts and assists in spreading the doctrines of another: one who follows the way of another. True disciples of Jesus Christ are known for their consistency in following Him and obeying His words. When God’s word is rejected or taken lightly, our claim to a relationship with Him is negated. No one is a true disciple of Christ who does not continue in His word and exercise faith in Him. Beloved, there is no ‘part – time followership’ in the Lord’s service. Total commitment is the standard for a relationship with God. It is either you are with Him, or with the devil; or for Him, or for the devil. What makes the difference between a committed and uncommitted follower of Jesus Christ is what he or she does with the words of God. God’s word is the standard and principle upon which genuine disciples of Christ base their conducts. They confess both their sins and their faith in Christ (Romans 10:10 ; John 1:9); they are transformed by the word of God, and they hold onto their faith in Christ Jesus (Hebrews 3:14). My dear, are you truly obeying God’s word? Please remember, God loves those who love and honour His words. Be wise!

Having read today’s devotional, what is expected of you?
1. Do not take the word of God for granted. Instead, be committed to it.
2. Be sure that you are truly following and obeying the word of God.
3. Be committed and consistent in your relationship with God.
4. No matter the circumstance, do not quit your commitment to God.

Prayer : Dear Lord, you are true, loving and good. You love faithfulness and loyalty. Therefore, help me to be committed and dedicated to you always, in Jesus’ name, amen.

Reflection : Total commitment is the standard for a relationship with God. It is either you are with Him, or with the devil.

Quote : “Without dedication to God, one’s claim to piety is a sheer self-deception.”

Faith Confession : Today, I confess that true disciples of Jesus Christ are those who abide in the word of God. Therefore, I will strive to do same as long as I live, in Jesus’ name, amen.

Biblical Fact: Did you know Apostle Paul is from the tribe of Benjamin? (Philippians 3:4-5).

Bible Verse : If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men most miserable. 1 Corinthians 15:19

LISTEN: The believer’s hope is beyond this present life. This world is passing away, hence, to live just for this present life is to be eternally miserable. Extreme pain, distress and woe await those who reject God. Beloved, as believers in Christ Jesus we should hope in God beyond this life. We should believe Him beyond our quest for healing, miracle, job, marriage, childbirth, health, etc.? As people who have eternity in view, we should cease to live so ungodly, or act wickedly towards others. We should embrace the fear of God, and have respect for human lives. We should not allow the so-called pleasures of this life take the place of God in our hearts. We should not give up on Christ or deny Him in the face of tribulations, persecution and trials. Beloved, we should not limit our hope in Christ to this present life. The Bible says, “If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men most miserable ” (1Cor. 15:19). Friend, when you live just for what the world can offer, surely, you will be miserable hereafter. Therefore, learn to spend your time, energy, resources, etc., on things with eternal value. Always hunger for God; because anyone who will wish for a blissful future with God must learn to hunger for righteousness (Matthew 5:6). Beloved, if your life is not lived for God, you have lived in vain. So, no matter what, learn to live and hope beyond this life. Be wise!

1. Bless God for today no matter what.
2. Ask God for forgiveness, and grace to follow His will.
3. Pray for grace to live for God and His kingdom purposes.
4. Intercede for believers in Christ around the world for grace to be eternally minded.
5. Pray against spiritual wickedness, and ask God to protect you.

Today, I prophesy to you, may you not live just for this present life . May the Lord show you the path of life and order your steps in the right direction, in Jesus’ name, amen.
