Verse Of The Day : You shall have no other gods before me. Exodus 20:3

LISTEN : God did not “minced words” when He said, “You shall have no other gods before me.” He was/is very clear on that. Every reasonable person should worship Him and Him alone because worship belongs to Him. God created man and the entire universe, hence, should be revered above all else. (Luke 4:8). We should accord Him the honour that is due Him. His glory must not be given to another. We must not offer reverence or devote our respect to things that are not God – money, fame, beauty, power, humans, etc. Nothing is worthy of God’s glory other than God Himself. This is why He warned the Israelites and we by extension, against worshipping other gods. The Bible says, “You shall have no other gods before me.” (Exodus 20:3). God’s commandment to them was to worship only Him. That is, they must not worship any other god. When people worship other gods other than the living God, He is provoked. God does not take it lightly when He is denied of His honour and glory. He is provoked when something else takes the first place in our hearts. Beloved, is God the first in your life? If He is not, what has taken the place of God in your heart? Whatever takes the place of God in your heart has caused you to enthrone Satan instead of God. My dear, remember that worship belongs to God and be dedicated to giving Him the first place in your life. Be wise!

Having read today’s devotional, what is expected of you?
1. Strive to give God the first place in your life.
2. Worship and honour God with all your heart no matter what.
3. Do not provoke God by serving other gods, instead, serve only Him.
4. Acknowledge God as supreme and the creator of the universe.

Prayer : Heavenly Father, you are supreme and your instructions are clear. Help me to acknowledge, obey, revere and worship you as my God, in Jesus’ name, amen.

Reflection : Those who worship other gods in place of the living God will provoke Him to anger .

Quote : “God’s instructions are clear, and he who disobeys it does that by choice and accepts the corresponding consequences.”

Faith Confession : Today, I confess that God alone is worthy of worship. Therefore, I will serve and worship Him as long as I live, in Jesus’ name, amen.

Biblical Fact : Did you know King Saul ordered his son Jonathan to kill David but he refused because he loves David? (1 Samuel 19:1,2).

Today In History : October 8, 1840 King William I of Holland abdicates.

Stunning Fact : Did you know rhinoceros have 3 toes on each foot?

Prophetic Declaration : You will make a difference. Today I prophesy to you, may God give you understanding to worship Him alone as your God. May He protect you from evil and deceit, in Jesus’ name, amen.

Bible Verse : Bless the Lord oh my soul and all that is within me bless his Holy name. Bless the Lord oh my soul and forget not all His benefit… and tender mercies Psalms 103:1–4

LISTEN: God is good and should be praised. He is everything that we are. Hence, to ignore this fact is to be bankrupt of wisdom. The meaning of life cannot be discovered until we think on what God has done. Pondering on the mighty works of God in the universe will open our eyes to the true meaning of life; and such knowledge will trigger a heart of praise to God. Beloved, no matter the pain, affliction, sorrow, misfortune you may go through in this life, there is still enough reasons to be grateful to God for His goodness. Let us bless the name of the LORD because through Him we have protection, deliverance, provisions, healing, forgiveness, salvation, comfort in trials, wisdom, understanding, peace, etc. No matter what we have done or achieved for ourselves, God is the one who made all things possible. Beloved, in spite of the ordeals we experience in life, we should not be blinded to the countless blessings of God in our lives. Therefore, like David, let us begin to bless the LORD today for all his benefits to us. Let us praise Him with affection and gratitude because He is good to humanity. (Psalms 92:1). Be wise!

1. Bless God for today no matter what.
2. Ask God for forgiveness, and grace to follow His will.
3. Pray for wisdom to acknowledge His blessings in your life.
4. Intercede for believers in Christ around the world for grace to love God.
5. Pray against spiritual wickedness, and ask God to keep you safe.

Today I prophesy to you, may you acknowledge and appreciate the blessings of God in your life. No matter what, may you not forget His benefits in your life, in Jesus’ name, amen.
